JMM is all about skills. Hes showed he can fight the best in his division even when outsized and still come in and win or against Pac, give a great performance despite losing the decision.
JMM boxing skills have already been put to the test against the best in his divisions. JMM has faced the best in his division all the time and has proven why he is the number 2 p4p today.
Floyd's boxing skills on the other hand, has never been test against a great boxer such as a JMM. A fighter that can adjust and maintain a gameplan for 12 rounds is something that Floyd has never seen in his entire career.
As of now, JMM is probably the most skilled opponent Floyd has faced in his career even at the age of 35.
I always say your skills are only as great as the opponents you face. Your skills have to be tested against great fighter for them to be considered great. Fighting the Gatti, Baldimors, Chico(R.I.P) Castillos, or Zabs in the world don't make your skills great. Testing your skills against great fighters make them great.
Even though JMM is the smaller fighter and giving up all the advantages and is supposed to lose in this fight according to most people here and experts, this is Floyds real test to see how great his boxing skills really are against a fighter who is 35 and has intangibles that can't be measured on paper.
I feel this fight will go the distance despite what some people say. Floyds straight right lead will be his best weapon and even then, he lunges forward out of the high guard or low guard depending if hes using the low crouch stand or the high guard stand hes not going to be able to do that constantly against JMM. He lounges too much and can be counter after he throws it do to his balance once he misses, and countering is JMM specialty. If Floyd stays back and goes into defense, he can probably win an boring decision, but I feel Floyd really needs a big win to have any leverage against Pac when they try and make the fight happen.
Can't wait for this fight despite what other people feel. Should be a good tactical fight and a few fireworks here and their. Don't care for the winner, just want to see a good fight :boxing:
it'll be a good fight but its a better fight at a catchweight
I agree, JMM at 147 will be alot slower. I think somewhere he says hes actually trying to lift weights to get stronger physically which will slow him down at those higher weight he is not accustomed to. It will be a good fight, but it will not do much for Floyds Legacy unless he knocks him out in 4 rounds or less, then most people will give him some credit.
Yea, I think this will be a closer fight than many expect, but as much as I want JMM to pull it off, I just don't see how he can do it. His only main advantage will possibly be ring intelligence, but that's about it. Skills wise they're almost on a par, size, strength, power, speed, youth are all in Mayweather's favour. There may be a bit of ring rust from PBF but nothing too drastic IMO and shouldn't have much of an effect on the fight, if any.
Read This:
I actually believe Manny Pacquiao would have a hard day at the office fighting mayweather; due to the fact he’s going to have to use his brain more than his muscle. Freddy Roach can only take you so far remember. Pacquiao is no master tactician, Pacquiao is too much of a “do as you’re told” kinda’ guy - a soldier if you like; and would have alot of difficulty breaking a solid mayweather defence in my view.
Marquez on the otherhand would keep an open mind while fighting Mayweather, taking risks trying to exchange with mayweather though staying back to use his footwork and counters when he needs to. I honestly think Mayweather has no idea what he has got himself into in picking Marquez for a comeback fight after a two year layoff....
JMM will be a tough fight for Floyd despite what other people think. The big factor that will come into play in the fight is, will JMM have good enough power to be able to keep Floyd off him if Floyd decides to go offensive instead of defense? If his power is not good enough at 147, then JMM will have a really hard time in this fight.
JMM is giving up all his advantages up and hes not even supposed to be fighting at Welterweight, but hes trying to be one of the best and that is what most great fighter should do and that is to prove they are the best. JMM and Pac have that mentality and they are both P4p 1 and 2 and both are trying to out due the others victory with an even great victory.
JMM vs Floyd will be a good fight because Floyd has to make it a good fight to get Leverage for negotiations against PAC.
Piss on this fight. I hope Mr boat buyer gets his fukkin jaw broken by JMM.
piss on this fight? piss on you you idiot. if you dont like this match up then you are no boxing fan. i dont care if jmm has never fought at 147. its still going to be good fight because like the nofear said jmm has skills, heart, and boxing IQ to make it a fight that will be the best of the year with Mayweather ending it with a ko. i have seen many fights were one fighter or the other had never fought at that weight and it turned out to be great. you got 2 of the biggest names in boxing getting in the ring and you dont like it well go watch baseball or something. the size difference isnt as dramatic as some of you drama queens make it out to be. im getting used to people hating on a fighter as successful and good as Mayweather but i have to keep checking you all because i see things you dont see.
does this look like a total mismatch? hey yea sucks marquez has to move up 2 weights but unfortunately thats what he had to do do get in the ring with the best and make a fight that only helps boxing.

I am very excited. Even though Marquez will lose, he will still put up a good fight. I think he will do what he always does which is lose the early rounds then come back in the middle and the end.
