I suggest No more Money Mayweather. He should think long-term career for now on.
That "Bad Guy" act will only go so far now; especially against someone like Pac or Mosley. Great for Promotion but you are the tool in the end. They will love to hate you now but after you’re done, they will just hate you. At least most of the time it seems that way. Maybe history and have he is done he will be treated kinder if with the "Money Maywether" character on. Not so sure though. It depends on where our society is on the toughness meter.
Good guys get away with a lot more as well and people tend to cover up for your misdeeds. Bad Guys: they hunt you down and if nothing is there, they'll make something up. However, nobody likes a faker unless you are a great actor. Just don't get caught acting.
That's my suggestion.
Or just be real. If this is the real Floyd, so be it. Even though I think there are a lot of fakers out there.
True Story:
I was a kid, maybe about 8 or 9. There was a show put on at my playground with Wrestlers {Fake kind}. Back then there was the "Good Guy" and "Bad Guy." The way the show was run, they got you to root against the Bad Guy. Of course, me being who I was, liked the Bad Guy actually, but I think it was because he looked cooler. Anyway, after the show we were allowed to meet the "Stars" of the show. Almost everybody was cool, especially the "Bad Guy" who fought the "Good Guy" {Champion}. He signed autographs, hung out with the kids, etc. However, the "Good Guy" {Champ} was a complete asshole. He spent most of his time in the Main building where he had a room to change and hang out. He was asked to come out and he wouldn't. When he finally did, he blew everybody off.
Since it was a "blue-collar" neighborhood, kids told him to go **** off and some other not so good things (to keep it clean).
That was one lesson in my life that cemented my thoughts on how the World is full of misconceptions and bullshit.
But hey, I guess he was keeping it real even though he was a real asshole after the show was over.
alot of it has to do with as black people, we have to compete with alot more than other ethnicities, we have superstars in EVERY sport, were used to seeing our guys at the top, and when that happens, the public isnt as captivated unless you do something to stand out. As americans, we dont really get behind our fighters, i mean a guy like pac, who is not an american national, will have far more support among americans than mayweather. A mexican like vargas had 10x the support of an olympic hero in de la hoya. People would just rather turn the other cheek toward american fighters to be honest. Even fighters who are truely american like a fernando vargas and fought on the olympic team representing america, essentially play roles favoring their grandmothers ethnic background to garner attention and support, its just how it is here.
I know how it goes man, that's why I said what I said. I have a ton of examples to backup my point, for example Mosley, he's a humble, amicable, fighter that has a lot of fans within the hardcore boxing fan and isn't a boring fighter, yet after years of winning and even defeating De La Hoya twice in front of big audiences. He's never been able to do anything with it. Mayweather has to be the way he is or he'd be in the same boat.
I suggest No more Money Mayweather. He should think long-term career for now on.
George was able to pull that incredible transformation off because he always seemed genuine, bad guy or good guy. Floyd comes off as phony in my opinion and will never acheive that kind of adulation because of it. That said.....I don't personaly like him, but his schtick works. Even bad publicity is good publicity. Or so they say.
y.
And tbh black fighters that don't act like Mayweather act don't sell much.

no way man. floyd will lose atleast 300k ppv buys per fight if he turns into a good guy. him playing the role of the bad guy is the reason dlh-mayweather is highest selling ppv of all-time.
Exactly. He played the good guy against Judah and that got him nowhere. De La Hoya-Mayweather would have sold 500K-1M less with him trying to play the good guy. There's too many fighters playing the good guy role in boxing anyway and a lot of them can't really be a heel to sell a fight. Imagine Mosley, Cotto, Pacquiao, or Marquez trying to play bad guy.

If Floyd was even decent at playing a badguy it would be one thing, but it is fake as hell. That isnt who Floyd is and its obvious. He is a great boxer mixed with a shitty drama student/wwf wrestler. The moron fans who buy into the "Make it rain in da club" attitude are who really confuse me.
FLoyd is not even a good "bad guy". He is just so damn corny and annoying as hell. paulie malignaggi is a better shit talker and a better "bad guy" then floyd.
The classic "bad guy" at least has carisma. Floyd has "zero" carisma and obnoxious.
All he talks about is money and that routine is so old and tired.
floyd's only fans are the type that drive cars where the rims are worth more then the car itself. Those people have no class like Floyd.
That's why I'm suggesting to get rid of it. Although you can't deny that his act did work. Where was he before he started the act? He wasn't on PPV.
"The more they hate you, the more they pay to see you lose"
Ali was an asshole from what I've seen and alot of people have come to love him.
He had the Vietnam War to fight against, Black Movement, and Parkinsons which shut his mouth.
Ali's trash talk didn't seem scripted, and he fought and beat peopel he was supposed to lose to.
Except Ali's trash talk was alway from a good hearted joking place. You could see the smirk on his face when he said stuff, trying to hold back the laughter. With Floyd, hes just a straight up prick.

Ali is my idol!! He took a hell alot more risks then I do, I'm going to go beat up little marquez now. Did you hear me in my press conference how I made front of that midget? I'm a big great man, and marquez is a tiny great man. Now who do you think will win?
I'm going to beat marquez and pacman up then I'm going to retire. Cotto, Mosley, Clottey any of those 147 pounders can kiss my ass. I love having a 0 next to my name.
not sure its a character. he may just be that full of himself and full of sh@t. and George went away for like a decade, became a preacher etc. I cant see Floyd becoming a humble, godfearing guy. someone is going to have to kick his ass before he'll even consider it ala Foreman.
