In a way it's unfair to compare PAC's left hook to Floyd's lead hand left hook.
Y'all have to remember, PAC's power hand is his left. While Floyd's real $$ punch is his right-straight punch.
If the thread starter would've asked which fighter has the better lead hook, in this case, it would be comparing PAC's right hook to Floyd's left hook.
So, who do I think has the better lead hook, I'd have to go with Floyd's. But if you ask me who has the better $$ punch, PAC and it ain't even up for debate!
i asked on the merit of comparing the hooks they finished ricky with... i really wouldnt mind the technical term of it all...
Haha yah true, I agree but i don't think he tried to change his style completely just add defense in with head movement, in the end he either didn't want to use his defense or thought it was messing his style up so he abandoned it. But yah it wasn't right for him it didn't fit with ricky too much thinking for him, he just wanted to run you over with punches.
True since Pac is a converted southpaw his right is his natural hand, personally i would prefer timing over power but thats just cause i box rather than brawl a brawler would never take timing over power for the punchers KO.
Good fighters mostly fight with their strengths, great fighters always fight with their strengths - that's why you don't see Floyd going for 10 punch combination and wild KO's he's defensive master.
this is the reason why floyd joke coach sr proved to be a liability rather than an asset to hatton... he tried to change hatton at that stage in the brit's career...
PAC seems to have more power in his right hook and Floyd has better timing with his left hook.

it's a hybrid :D between cross and overhand (since he threw it above his head). but cant be a hook coz it's the lead hand.
pac should patent that punch.
Floyd and Mannys lefts are completely different styles- Manny's is a punchers looping overhand haymaker of doom while floyds is a disciplined defensive counter of attrition.
Theres a big different in how their used. I would definitely say Floyd's punch is a much more successful shot both in difficulty aspect and slugging percentage, its to say the brush of an artist; on the other hand it doesn't have the power as a Manny overhand. The overhand is fierce and used in flurry's rather than defensive traps etc. I see it more as the sledge hammer of a demo crew. Both shots are difficult to see - Floyds is quick and is used while going backwards and pacs can be looped from the depths of hell.
BUT both fighters compensate for the weakness of each punch, for example Floyd uses accuracy and precision to weaken the chin then when the time comes he lands the last clean hook for the KO. Sweet to watch or easy to miss depending on how your watching!
Manny's shot is easily anticipated so he launches a barrage of punches opens himself up with something like a right hook making the other fighter try and counter, then he sits and throws a punch you cant even see to the chin KO.
Both are great tools mastered by real pros
the title of the thread is "left hand of doom". it sounded like it might be worth reading or contributing too. but when i come in here and its some nut riding stupidity comparing two amazing punches its annoying.
why stress urself?
why keep coming back to something that annoys u?
overhand hook doesn't sound right. lol
Yea I know, but you get what I mean. He landed the same shot against Morales in their first fight in the last round when Morales turned southpaw and it looked like it landed just as sweetly but Morales didn't go down.
who gives a ****? why does one have to be better than the other? why can't they both be legendary and memorable? you guys rank some retarded shit on here.
"which face off was better hatton vs pacquiao or hatton vs mayweather?"
fuk you...
Your right. It was an overhand. It was more impressive than PBF's in terms of excitement. But not as impressive as PBF's check hook in terms of technique difficulty.
with sum aid from a ringpost boss... :)
Pac's a southpaw homey. His left hand KO punch against Hatton was an overhand, not a hook. I dunno why he was sayin that.
