i have no problems with hopkins taking easy fights against stylistically easy fighters such as froch and pavlik. what i dont like is how he and his fans will bang on about how froch is a legacy defining win - froch and pavlik were both tailor made for him i said it before the pavlik fight.
im a huge zaghe fan but i never state RJJ as great win for joe, just a great name for his resume.
williams is actually a dangeros fight for hopkins because williams will think to himself f*ck it lets bulk up and come into the fight hydrated. at the minute williams is not bulking up because he still wants to be able to make LMW, but if a fight with hopkins comes along then he will add on the extra mass and he will become a genuine MW. then he will come into the fight hydrated and whip on bernard for 12 rounds.
maybe hopkins should carry on calling out WW's after all hes made a 'legacy' by doing that so far. who knows maybe if hes feeling adventurous he'll even call out a LMW at 170 or 175 again.
I expected it to be closer between PW and Froch because of weight, but his lack of skill and speeds just trumps that I guess. Maybe Trinidad should have been added to make poll more interesting, lol
I would place money on Hopkins beating a slouch of a heavyweight like Valuev.Valuev has absolutely no skills, and no tremendous power for his size.He is like a wall unit that occasionally throws a punch.Imagine how that would look like in the history of boxing! If Roy did it with Ruiz, why cant Hopkins do a match with Valuev?
I think Froch is the easiest win. He is just a bit too one-dimensional to trouble Hopkins I think. He would beat PWill though for sure. Adamek and Dawson are much, much closer fights IMO.
B-Hop's best chances in order
1-Froch-little lateral movement,and only one weapon.just like trinidad,pavlik,etc..Hopkins laughs at power/pressure fighters.
2-Paul Williams-the weight would have to take a toll on him,and i do not believe he carries top power when he moves up.the more punches he throws, the more hopkins counters, fights inside ,holds and breaks his inexperience down.
3-Tomasz Adamek-lacks any tools to defeat Hopkins. He is tough, but I doubt he can handle Hopkin's ring smarts.Adamek hasn't showed me anything outstanding enough.likewise,he has decent power, but he isn't a slick fighter.Hopkin's has only lost against slick boxers who have extreme speed (Roy Jones and *debateable* Joe Calzaghe).Im not including his 1st pro fight.
4-Chad Dawson-this is the fighter that has a chance at beating Hopkins. He has great speed, sound skills, and acceptable power (keep in mind, its not power that beats Bernard-he's NEVER been ko'd),but can he handle Hopkins? very ify fight-great risk, very low reward.I wouldn't bet on this fight.I think Chad can make Hopkins over exert his paced energy, wear him out and be busy as Calzaghe was, then he's got a window of oppurtunity on the scorecards.

Stop picking on hopkins, dude fought the best fighters since losing very close decisions to taylor which could have gone either way. Plus, it looks great on his resume when he beats fighters taylor couldn't. Hopkins is already an atg, it looks impressive if he beats Froch even if he is favored to do so. Most fighters would be favored to beat Froch with Frochs bad defense.
Pwill, cuz he has no business goin up high enuf to be in weight range for a Bhop fight.
Yeah but Froch was dropped by Taylor and PW dominated Winky. Punisher is smaller but with his workrate I see him landing on Hopkins, Froch with those tiger uppercuts I'm not sure.
