Coming into the fight the opponents were either evenly matched in record, ranking, skill, talent, and performed similarly against common opponents. But when they faced each other one dominated.
I don't think this fight was really onesided. I had it really close round wise. But Calzaghe won some his rounds more clearly and by wider margin. I may have had it a draw if I remember correctly.
it wasn't a draw, I had Joe winning every round from 4 onward, the 2nd was pretty clsoe too. Kessler was always game but he was never in for a shot at winning
Calzaghe-Lacy
Calzaghe-Manfredo (dont laugh, the yanks thought this was a well matched fight!)
Calzaghe-Kessler
Calzaghe-Jones
Calzaghe was meant to lose all of these!
i dont think any educated boxing fan thought either of manfredo or jones was going to get the best or even stay close with calzaghe come on now your just reaching . lacy and kess i can agree with.
HOPKINS VS TARVER anyone ?
Calzaghe dominated and controlled the fight from round 5 onwards. It was masterclass performance from Calzaghe.
I remember giving Kessler rounds 1 and 2, some late rounds maybe, but the close rounds I gave to Kessler for landing the harder punches.

Calzaghe - Kessler. Both guys were very evenly matched.

I guess some of these factors can come into play into a match. But I guess its not that often where all the factors are even and the outcome is lopsided. Jones had athleticism edge on Toney. Mosley had speed on Margarito. Hopkins had the skill edge on Tito and Pavlik.
Mosley-Margarito
In terms of greatness those 2 names shouldn't be in the same sentence, but due to the time at which it happened they weren't so far apart and had common opponents.
