Note: I don't ask this as a fan of his but wondering how can a "champion"/"belt holder" keep these nondescript "no names" and not only NOT be called out by the other champions but pretty much escape criticism from the media??
I don't think he's a bad fighter by any stretch and I love his jab but how does he get off "scott free" when I've rarely heard him suggested to fight
Winky Wright, Miranda (when he was at 160), Pavlik, Abraham, heck even John Duddy. Is the WBA ont he take of those "Universum" guys?? What gives because this guy fighting someone who's 13-0 in his next fight is absurd!!
Maybe that is why he stays in Germany, because he is afraid that if he leaves he will get robbed again by the judges against another notable fighter.
Could be, that and he's making good money where he is. Who can blame him really?
Here's are his Amature Achievements

He dissapointed alot of people (Including Myself) , by rejecting a showdown with Arthur Abraham because there wasn't enough money on the table and was more interested in a showdown with Pavlik etc.
Him and Aruther would of been huge in Germany. Strum has talent he was a brillant amature, and has got ability and talent. He jab is one of the best in the game, but he is very beatable and can blow hot and cold as he proved in peformances against Randy Griffin and Javier Castillejo in first encouters with both, getting a draw and a loss lating revenging both.
I think the only middlweight fight people are mainly interesting is seeing now is Aruther and Pavlik.
Sturm next title defence will be against unknown 14-0 Koji Sato, which he should win, but Sato can punch knocking out 13 of his 14 wins.
After this would like to see Sturm battle Aussie's Anthony Mudine, who is a good fighter and could cause Strum problems.
sturm just doesnt want 2 get in the ring with anybody with a pulse!
sturm is a one hit wonder guy! his best win is his (loss) to dlh... besides that...he havnt done shit.
Yeah that was it, it was first 1.5 mil then the Abraham team upgrade it to 2.5 mill euros and Sturm still turned it down.
Exactly.
The reason given was that Sturm is under contract with a rival tv-company (ZDF) to Abraham's (ARD). It seemed as if the negotiations stopped before taking off which was strange since the demand for this fight is gigantic in Germany. Surely it would have been possible to work something out with that kind of money involved one would think.
He outpriced himself against Abraham. I believe the Abraham camp was offering something like 1.5 mill euros which if i'm not mistaken is about 3 million dollars, Sturm wanted more than that, so now, oh well too bad.
Holy **** I didn't know that, what a shame. Oh well with his style he might be slightly more suited for a Pavlik matchup, but I think he's a lil behind the 2 of them. It'd still be nice to see the guys do another tournament to find out who's the king of the middleweight division.

This is wierd, I guess people just don't rate him as highly as they do other European's such as Abraham or Kessler, people actually want to see them fight the big fights. No one seems to give 2 fucks about Sturm.
Sturm was offered 2.5 million euro's for a unification fight with Arthur Abraham. He looked really bad when he turned the offer down.
Still ozzie Anthony Mundine is his mandatory so Sturm might get a live opponent later this year (if Mundine wants to step up that is).
