at 168, Winky would beat Calzaghe. Plus Wright on fight night against Taylor was around the mid late 160's. It was a great win, better then Kessler, Lacy, or a SHOT jones jr.
and he lost to Vargas in like 99. Then went unbeaten for like 8 years till Hopkins.
Wright>>>Calzaghe, not matter of you look at it man.
i chuckled to myself, seriously people cant not be THIS DUMB. calzaghe kills winky at 168, make a poll.
What the hell are you talking about!?!? He was a champion at 160 and knocking foo's the **** out. For example he knocked William Joppy the hell out in round 5. Hopkins fought Joppy and won UD.
Trinidad was a solid fighter at 160 and to be honest, if Hopkins was not there or lost, Trinidad would have ruled 160 for several years.
Are you seriously this dumb? How would calzaghe be bigger at age 43? What would that do for Hopkins career? Set him up with a fight with Pavlik? Maybe Roy Jones rematch? Again, you fail to understand how big the Trinidad fight was. You need to see it from a different perspective.
Better fighter does not equal bigger fight or more significant. Again, a loss to Tarver would have ended bhops career. That was a huge moment in his career.
Again, better not bigger. Go back. You asked me who was bigger. I agree Oscar isn't a great middlweight. But this win was huge for hopkins and also his biggest payday and got him more exposure than anyone else.
your misunderstood.
calzaghe is not a bigger name than those guys but a BETTER FIGHTER and BIGGER WIN.
dont make me laugh.
wright was an undisputed champion at 154 lbs he has many losses including a loss to fernard vargas. he fought hopkins at 170 lbs.

Wow.
Trinidads win would be a better win even if Hopkins got the win in the Calzaghe fight.
I think the Winky Wright win is better then a win over Calzaghe.
dont make me laugh.

Here are three:
Trinidad - 40-0, hopkins was a 6-1 underdog. Masterful schooling for the ages. Owned all belts including the ring for the first time since hagler. Finally got the exposure & respect he'd fought for all those years.
Oscar de la hoya - Biggest name in boxing. Did more for hopkins career than anyone else. 100000000X more significant in the sport than Joe.
Antonio Tarver - HUGE WIN for bernard after coming off of two losses to Jermaine Taylor. Moving up to LHW after entire career at 160 to beat the man, hopkins was a 4-1 underdog. This was a must win fight for hopkins, had he lost he most likely would have retired. Again, 10000X more significant than a fight with Joe.
Explain to me why this is funny? Do you not understand how BIG this was for hopkins career?
I said thats what other people would have said, faggot, learn to read and take joe's dick out yo mouth.
i dont care if hopkins was a 40-1 underdog, trinidad is NOT good at 160+ and we've all seen that, quit holding on to the underdog bullshit. at the time people were reluctant to put him p4p 1 or 2 because they thought de la hoya beat him. fact is the trinidad win is not as big as beating calzaghe.
tarver again is a good fighter but calzaghe is better than him, a calzaghe win would ofcourse be a better win.
oscar is a good fighter at 147 lbs he is 1-1 at 160 including a robbery over felix sturm, calzaghe is a far better win than oscar.
calzaghe is 37, has been past his prime for a while.
if hopkins had of won, it would have been his biggest win of his career. remind me where the fight took place, at which weight class it took place at.
Wow.
Trinidads win would be a better win even if Hopkins got the win in the Calzaghe fight.

Is someone going to ban "boxasmash", or is this forum going to encourage societies failures to post here?
Boxasmash, you're a typical Chav; now son, let the adults discuss, and go play with your action figures. Run along
Exactly. This would not have been hopkins biggest win, not even close. If hopkins won, everyone would have said calzaghe was a protected european bum like people said years ago and hopkins exposed him. That's the truth, hopkins wouldn't have got much credit for it (since at that time the ONLY people worth noting on Joe's resume were Kessler and Jeff Lacy, two guys who really haven't accomplished much in their careers).
tell me what win is bigger than JOE.
and dont say trinidad unless you want to make me laugh.
undisputed, undefeated champion and 21 defences means SOMETHING, he could not have been "exposed" you dumbass.
Who the hell was Calzaghe before Hopkins fought him?
In all honesty Calzaghe should be thankful that he gained his name from a close sheisty SD win over Hopkins.
who has hopkins beat who is better than calzaghe
remember, 44-0 undisputed super middleweight champion, 21 title defences.
please tell me you ****ing nut hugger.
you dont even believe that.
ofcourse it would have been, dont be an idiot.

b-hop is a good but not great as some ppl claim, imo if he was around when other good american fighters were around half of these guys would be saying hes a good fighter but lets see him retired. imo hes not as good as calzaghe - if he was so confident of beating him he wouldn't have ducked him in 2002.
anyways hopkins should have made the fight with adamek he could have had him.
It could have been given to Hopkins easily, who landed the more eye catching harder shots, and hurt his opponent many times through-out the fight, not to mention put Calzaghe on his back side. Most of Calzaghes punches were missing by a mile, and the ones that were counted were landing on Hopkins' shoulder and back. By the way this fight in no way would have been Hopkins' biggest win, it would be in the LONG list of his very good wins.

Remind me how old hopkins was and if the fight was close or not.
And even considering those two factors, it's still joe's biggest win of his career.
