Joe retired declining to fight Dawson. We all know BHop is not going to fight him. He's already going to fight Tarver. There really is no other name in the LHW division for Dawson to go at.
A rematch with Johnson would be GREAT. I believe Dawson beat him convincingly in the first fight. It was close, but in my eyes, Dawson clearly edged him out. I can understand why some would see otherwise.
But outside of Johnson, what else is there? Should Dawson move up to CW and try to go at Adamek again? Should he move down to SM and go at Kessler? Granted if the Kessler camp would actually be willing to fight Dawson this time. I seriously doubt Arum would put Pavlik in with him.
Whats a brotha to do?
In all honesty, he needs to gives Johnson the rematch, I had it 116-112 for johnson, dawson wasnt landing the head shots people were giving him credit for, close fight with quite a few close rounds, but in all honesty I dont see how he won that fight, he was nearly floored a couple of times as well. But he has great heart, and a good boxing brain, he can follow the gameplan even when hurt.
gives him the chance to unify the belts - i think cloud, dianconu, a rematch with johnson, maybe he should try and get a few SMW's to move up - froch is always chasing big fights.
Eh, honestly I dont buy it. Taylor went head to head with guys like Hopkins and Wright, and came out looking pretty good. Kelly didnt beat him because he is a nobody, Kelly is a hell of a fighter. Something Froch hasnt proven to be. I think Taylor takes him to school.
I'm talking about styles, and i always said that Pavlik was a very good fighter. With that being said, what does he bring that Froch doesn't? Froch's jab is just as good and hes a better boxer than Pavlik( as i stated before) and the difference in hand speed is not that much, if theres a difference at all. Smaller fighters like Ouma( who was only brought in for Taylor to get a knockout) and Spinks troubled Taylor. We are talking about a large super middleweight, arkward boxer with every punch in the book. If he was as slow and ploddig as people make it seem, then he wouldn't have beaten Pascal.
As for Dawson, the guy can easily make SMW. He has said it himself. If I am him, I look for Cloud or Diancou just to solidify my dominance at LHW, and then look to make a fight with whoever proves to be the top SMW. There is a lot of talent in the division, whoever manages to come out on top will make for a big fight.
Agreed, super middleweight is starting to be a hot division and if Dawson could get in that mix, it would serve him well both legacy and money wise.
So you think Pavlik can do anything that Froch can't? Froch is a lot bigger than Pavlik, he has more one punch power and technically he is much better.

time wont be able to explain the ass whoopin that Froch is going to receive
So you think Pavlik can do anything that Froch can't? Froch is a lot bigger than Pavlik, he has more one punch power and technically he is much better. Jermain is going to run into those same problems again, but it could be more one sided in favor of Froch. Its going to be exciting, but Froch is going to win. He just has too much and Jermaine is too inconsistent.
I think Dawson should fight at LHW and let the fights come to him. Beat Tarver, try and unify, and then wait for people to come to you. If he holds all the straps, big fighters will move up for a chance.
Glen Johnson, Adrian Diaconu, and Tavoris Cloud are all waiting for him.
He's too small for cruiserweight anyway, and no way he's moving down in weight if he hasn't lost any fights
During Adamek/Dawson, Steve Albert stated that he felt that Dawson looked a lot bigger and stronger than Adamek despite that being only his second fight at light heavyweight and hes ripped as well. I don't think he would be too small, but on the other hand i don't think he should go all the way to cruiser weight. He wouldn't have the same size advantages that he has at light heavy and i heard him state in an interview that he would never go up there because all of the big money is at 175. I think he should unify light heavyweight for now and try to get some of the stars from 168 to meet him at a catch weight. When Froch beats Taylor, that could be a fight that could be made and i still want to see him against Hopkins.
He's rematching Tarver on May 9, after that he has to fight Tavoris Cloud (IBF rules). So he's basically only having two fights this year, disappointing year for Dawson. But Tavoris Cloud wants want to fight a warm up before fighting Dawson, so Dawson/Hopkins or Dawson/Johnson isn't out of the question.
Cloud was going to wait for Dawson to finish his match with Tarver, but since that got delayed I expect Cloud to fight Clinton Woods or someone else.
I predict Dawson will give Glen Johnson a rematch or fight Bernard Hopkins.
I think he should drop down to 168 and start cracking heads.
Bad Chad is crazy talented, I would pick him over just about anyone in the SMW division. He has said before he wouldnt have trouble making that weight, and has thought about the drop before. I say go for it.
I dont understand. I cant enjoy Kool-Aid and Watermelon with Fried Chicken?
it seriously is one of the best combos ever. Its what I always bring to the beach.
Im reporting your post as racist for automatically attributing racist qualities to a delicious meal.

He can start by fighting his mandatory, Tavoris Cloud. Cloud is just a puncher, I think Dawson would beat him by decision. There are a lot of guys Dawson could fight, he's just looking for super fights and keeping the division on hold in the interim.

116-112 all the way, man. It definitely looked close, but the Bad one was in charge the whole time. I find it cringeworthy and annoying that Glengoffe is still sooooooo bitter about it.
As for who he should fight, I reckon he should come down to 168. It's pretty dead around the 175 zone, whereas 168 is starting to pick up again (Taylor, Froch, Kessler, Lacy... Roy......)
He's young enough to allow himself to be patient for the big fights but, if everyone keeps saying no, then what really is a brudda to do?
Briggs and Ulrich were ranked 13 and 16 when Adamek fought them.

I'm pretty sure you could figure out who I meant. If not, here is a clue.

And I'm not talking about Finky Fright.....
is it the guy in the background with the face?
Thanks, but i meant Briggs and Ulrich. Where were they ranked when Adamek fought them.
The Ring had Briggs 8th and Ulrich 9th. Before Adamek fought them whereas Adamek was unranked before fighting Ulrich.
