I was recently shadow boxing and i got to thinking, "Damn, my arms are pretty short for my body." I only noticed this when I had my right arm up to my chin, my elbow didnt cover much of my body. I have always gotten exhausted when I try my best to reach my opponent. I also remember missing alot. Am I screwed? Do you guys know of any boxers with short arms?
Marciano and Tyson.
watch this: 6'6 and 80 inch reach Ribalta against 5'11, 71 inch reach Tyson.
Damn look on his face after the uppercut is priceless....He did the Kat Williams hater face...
I just got my brother to measure me, cause it is harder to do it yourself... and he said I am about 5'5" tall with a reach of 22" from the armpit to the end of the fist, not the middle finger.
Would you consider me to have small reach taking my height into consideration or just about right?
hahahaha is that a joke? i really hope so!! that and tyson in the same thread is almost blasphemy! He makes Danny williams look like a pro... oh wait.. he is
Marciano was a very crude fighter early on. His trainer Goldman taught him how to use his disadvantage to his advantage against taller opponents with longer reach.
Rocky was never a flashy boxer but his somewhat unpolished yet highly effective moves made him a champ, undefeated too.
27 inches and 3/4ths (70.5 cm)
5 foot 10 inches tall
If you measured it right then that's not a short arm length by any means. I believe Floyd Mayweather has an arm length of about 26 inches.

Work with what you got, man. Skill can make up for anything. If you focus on negative shit like this, it'll just haunt you.
Short arms are also a blessing if you apply the correct strategy to them, such as in fighting.
Toney doesn't have a short reach but his is short compared to most other fighters (at 72 inches), especially at heavyweight.
I don't think Nicolino Locche had much of a reach advantage, he was a master boxer though. He covered his body with his arms and used the shoulders, bobbing and weaving to avoid punches to the head.
god damn, i just looked in the mirror again with my right arm folded to my chin and it looks abnormally short and my elbow doesent cover shit. it also feels like it barely reaches, kinda tight. if any one can post pics of boxers with short arms with an angle showing their right or left hand up to their chin, ill donate 1k to you. thanks.
Its called in-fighting. Get used to it because thats the only range you will be able to fight at.
I dont feel like uploading photos. So, go here and check out the peek-a-boo. http://images.google.com/hosted/life/l?imgurl=c07f7d5eb0e1313b&q=peek-a-boo%20boxing&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dpeek-a-boo%2Bboxing%26ndsp%3D20%26hl%3Den%26rls%3Dcom.microsoft:en-US%26sa%3DN%26um%3D1
almost completely square, crouched over slightly, hands up covering the chin, and in the pocket. Thats the only way you will be able to fight effectively. Unless you want a ton of losses. Unless you want to punch and hug like hatton. Also, you better have a ton of power to go along with it. Improve your back!
Kostya Tszyu was 5'7 (maybe 5'6 1/2) with a 67 inch reach. Timing is a MUST as well as being elusive/tight defense.
Tua also had short arms. I still think the IKE fight took a lot out of him.
