What if Paul came in with the intention to outbox Floyd. Fighting like a tall man, keeping his distance and popin 100 punches per round...what then? I'm talking, the way he beat Margaritothat's something to look at, but paul williams said himself that he would be suicidal to try to outbox floyd, i dont' care how tall he stays, floyd is too methodical a fighter to try to box, he then said, he feels no fighter in the sport can outbox floyd, no fighter...he said he would have to pressure floyd and stay on him, because against taller fighters, floyd uses his smaller height veyr well, he stays small and jabs to the body very effectively, so paul knows trying to outbox floyd won't do it.
i really don't see a style in boxing right now that could beat floyd's style, he's not the same floyd from the castillo fights physically, he's healthy, his adaptibility has really increased. p dub could give floyd trouble just like any fighter could physically, but he has to have the perfect gameplan to beat him, the perfect gameplan, and has to be ready to fight more than 12 rounds, meaning every round counts, so don't train to fight floyd 12 rounds, train to go 15 rounds with him, and the best way to fight him is to mimic his style against him. that's my opinion and use his style to offset him, i truly feel that is the only way to beat him, and paul is also southpaw, that could trouble floyd, especially with his layoff, but that's it.
Before anyone say Mayweather would U.D him like Quintana. Keep in mind, Mayweather ain't a 5'10 southpaw and 30 punches a round isn't gonna do it. Mayweather would win in my opinion but it will be one of his hardest fights
good point.. not to mention williams is a middleweight :D
floyd makes williams look very, very silly.
williams is a combinations, rhythm fighter. he wont be able to get it against floyd.
Agreed. And this fight aint gonna happen. Of all the welters Paul would be the last Floyd would fight. No one wants to fight a grasshopper or preying mantis...
Williams has the physical advantages
But does he have the mental advantages, the boxing brain etc to beat Floyd
I don't think Williams is smart or deceptive enough to beat Floyd
Paul still looks like a work in progress, he needs to use his height
Paul Williams is simply not on Mayweather level. it would be Diego Corralles all over again.
I think this is the first thing I agree with you on. I don't think he'd get KD as many times, but how the fight progressed... I think it would be a repeat.
If you look how Mitchell and Quintana gave williams all type all of hell when they box him and move.. you would understand that Williams would have more trouble with floyd then Floyd with williams...Even with all of williams Physical advan.
to be quite honest I agree. I don't think Williams would convincingly win a single round. Too slow, too wide, and if he is throwing straights the whole fight his lack of speed would only be of disadvantage. Floyd would land half of his punches while Williams would land way, way less.

You must understand that people downplay floyd greatness allot . because he is a boxer who fights in 100% motion and rtyhm
Mayweather's defense
The Key to Mayweather's defense is the fact that he is always moving as well as the rhythm, speed and smoothness of his movements, this is what makes this defense effective.
All the while his opponent is punching.
Floyd is
rolling,
slipping,
pivoting at the waist,
feinting,
bobbing and weaving,
constantly displaying various ‘modes’ of movement .
The rhythm of the rolling is very important because most opponents alternate their punches in a very predictable way, only occasionally doubling up with the same hand in the middle of flurries.
The name of the game is not aggressiveness, it is 'effective aggressiveness'.
Most of Floyd's Opponents punches get deflected and do not do much damage. Also use up a lot of energy in the process.
It is tiring and frustrating to punch at a target that constantly making you miss.
Floyd's sense of the flow of a fight is fantastic.
Staying 'in the pocket',
When Floyd stands 'in the pocket', meaning that Mayweather was so close to His Opponent that they can not get the proper leverage on their punches.
There is an optimum distance that most fighters need to execute effectively.
and floyd does not let a fighter ever get that distance to tee of on him.
Either they are to close or they are to far.!!!

Who ever said Williams would kill May is delirious. Floyd Schools him for 12 and the easy UD. Williams is the most hyped fighter in the bizz. He hastn proved anything. He has a good win beating Margs and hasnt done anything else. He brings no money and a possible loss cause of his size. I hope someone takes this punk on and knocks him back to mediocrity where he belongs.

Difference is that Floyd won't be getting hit. Margarito uses his head as his defense, Floyd uses skill.

Good point man, I forgot Quintana is a southpaw and is slightly bigger than Mayweather. I don't think Williams fought a southpaw as good as Quintana.
But I say Floyd wins it.
If you look how Mitchell and Quintana gave williams all type all of hell when they box him and move.. you would understand that Williams would have more trouble with floyd then Floyd with williams...Even with all of williams Physical advan.
until it happens, i can't say anybody beats mayweather.
williams gives him more trouble, b/c of his size, than any of the other current WW tho.
it will never happen. Williams has proven power at ww and has partialy proven his power in the LM division. PBF wont touch him and tbh i dont blame him. As much as i dislike PBF he aint that stupid.
The best thing he could do is have a warm up then fight Cotto or Mosley and actualy secure his ww legacy because as far as i see his legacy at ww is more like an averagcy

I agree with that.
