Margarito and the hand wrap scandal...did he use illegal hands wraps vs Cotto

I am tired of seeing all these threads about other topics and then this issue gets brought up and the thread gets chopped and an argument breaks out with some Margarito fan using a ALT and bad mouthing Cotto and insulting the PR people. I have seen the thread where some pics were posted of the supposed pads that were removed from Margarito's gloves on the night of the Mosley fight. There is a blood stain on this pad. The poster also showed us some pictures from the end of the Cotto fight where Margarito has his left hand raised and it appears he has a similar blood stain in the same spot on the pad or wrap. The poster tried to use this a proof that Margarito used the same illegal hand wraps/pads in the fight against Cotto. Now while I agree the actions of Tony and his trainer are suspect now in every one of his bouts. this definitely leaves a big question mark around his recent big wins. Margarito supporters use the Williams fight and try to say well did he use the plaster or the illegal wraps in that fight. What is Williams not fazed by the plaster in Tony's mitts? Truly I say this for Cotto fans and for most every boxing fan we have to move on. Let’s get it out of our system and move on. Cotto has done so. he has no question looked past this and is moving on with his career. he can't let that be the deciding factor in his life. Same for Margarito fans you have to move on. either continue supporting you fighter and try to ignore the remarks made by others. I mean face it fellas your man got caught trying to cheat he tried to do something wrong. It is what it is and there is nothing you can do to change it. Either look at one of the many brave Mexican warriors out there that are fighting their hearts out and take one of them as your hero. Worship them and stand behind them just as you did Margarito. They are fighting like true warriors and doing it the legal way. You should support them and forget about Tony for now. Look at JMM or Victor Ortiz Juan Baby Bull Diaz there are so many I can't name them all but these guys are true warriors truly deserving of your support. maybe somewhere down the road Tony can come back and fight again in the states. maybe somewhere down the road he will get another shot against Cotto or another top 5 WW and this time he will fight and win and be redeemed then you can come back strong for Tony and stand up to the nay Sayers. I am a Tyson fan true and true. I remember when he first loss to Douglas I was pissed he lost. I got clowned by some but many were just as shocked as I was and they really didn’t come at me too hard. Fast forward to his fight with Evander and the ear biting escapade and I was getting hell about him. People saying he cheated and found a way out of a fight with a true champion. that he was nothing. I tried defending him but really what defense did I have for that. it was a black eye on boxing and cast a big shadow on the sport. This is a sim issue and there really isn’t much you can say to defend your hero you just have to deal with it and realize that even hero's make mistakes and they are human. Let it go for now find some other Mexican warrior to worship who deserves your love and support. Like I sad maybe Tony can come back down the road and redeem himself. Cotto fans caught a lot of abuse when Tony beat Cotto last July and it is hard for them to lay off this opportunity but try to think if it was one of your favorite fighters who got caught like this how much it would affect you.....Lefty

You should bring back all the threads where people said PEDs weren't as a big a deal in comparison to loaded gloves when the comparision was brought up. "its not even close to being the same thing, don't even try to make it out to be as bad" Now, in todays climate, PEDs is akin to killing your own child. brought htis back in light of recent comment by Floyd about Cotto being undefeated in his mind.....GuNzZ

I brought this back with all the talk of his reinstatement in Feb and a fight on the under card of PAC on 3/13 in Cowboy Stadium. i agree, you cant prove that margo cheated against cotto, but neither can you prove he is 100% innocent. that said, innocent until proven guilty and the accusers must provide proof. I see this argument getting brought up in other threads again so I bring this topic back to the the light anyone wanna continue this arguement?....Lefty:boxing:

There's no reason to believe that he didn't, but there's equally no way to prove that he did. This is the inevitable conclusion of any argument involving this. My vote is just shutting up about it. i agree, you cant prove that margo cheated against cotto, but neither can you prove he is 100% innocent. that said, innocent until proven guilty and the accusers must provide proof.

No idea.maybe some deal has been done,could be just a rumour,it was posted up here last week. I'm pretty sure it will be publicly announced since there was cameras at the hearing and it was public. It has to be announced to the public.

Yeah,I heard that too,but I also read that they wont publicly reveal the results Damn, then what's the whole point on revealing anything on march 10? I'm sure the results are already in and people on the inside know what's up. The public has a right to know since there was a public hearing. Otherwise why would they announce march 10?

The NSAC would have to get involved, and it's way too easy for them to just turn the other cheek and absolve themselves of any blame. You really think they would risk the credibility of their commission to investigate something that happened so long ago after they already said they saw nothing wrong? It's gonna be something that we'll never know, and it's just gotta be left to that. You may be right. Until then, Cotto fans and Margarito fans will be going back and forth. Unless there's a rematch next year, however there are alot of hurdles to jump for that to happen. It sucks that this sport that we love has to suffer like this. This is what's killing the sport. You'll never see shit like this happen to baseball ( And just for the record I am a die hard Mets fan). McGuire, Bonds, ARod- And still Baseball will not lose a beat.

Without having to name drop. I have a close friend in the Margarito camp. I've visited Marg's camp many-a-times. This is what I was told in regards to the wraps. Capetillo, Marg's trainer, likes to re-use gauze when he wraps Marg's hands. He also uses a gauze from Mexico that has some wax made within it. It has a tendency to dis-color from white to grey over time. It can aslo harden a bit, but not so much where an advantage can be had. It's just a bit-hardened wax. I don't think that can really be percieved as a advantage for Marg? Possibly, but I just don't think it was "plaster like" at all. Thanks for this report. According to eyewitness-reports of the incident a 'hardened plaster-like substance' was found in the wraps. This is a fact. Wheter or not this hardened substance was caused by wax or not is irrelevant. And obviously your source is from marg's camp which does retract his credibility. But what's interesting here is also an admission of Capetillo tampering with the wraps, and doing so regularly. Incredible that this has gone unnoticed. The commisions and supervisors for Marg.'s fights must have ears redder than red.

Here's how I see it. If the picture before was posted is true ( Come on people anybody could've constructed the picture and posted it on the net) Then there is a definite stain which in turn looks like blood. Now I seem to forget, the Commission is analyzing all of this stuff right???? So correct me if I am wrong anybody, hasn't forensic evidence advanced drastically over the years????? You know if there's in fact a blood stain on the wrap, that the commission is going to atleast try to tie it to Cotto or even a past fighter that Margarito fought. Now if they can tie Cotto to that blood stain. Then, nobody can say anything. Until then. Like I stated in my past messages. Bitches talk the talk, Men walk the walk. Nah man.
