I don't think so. JMM will win a UD. The scores will look like 116-112 117-111 and 116-112. Diaz will control the first couple rounds and then JMM will counterpunch the young bull into a decision. Your thoughts....

My thoughts? You already thought em' :werd:
I think Marquez takes it with his counterpunching. Juan got some ref help vs Barrios so they may hesitate to do that again in Houston. Doesn't Marquez have a significant reach advantage here? Always nice for a counterpuncher.
Katsidis hurt his hand early vs Diaz so I am not certain how great of a victory that was for Diaz. I mean, I give him credit, but as far as fighting JMM it may not mean much.
I see Diaz coming forward and getting tagged all night long, JMM backing up, stopping and exchanging at times, then backing up some more and still hitting Diaz. Eventually Diaz will slow down from this.
JMM even though he is a bit older is in some ways better than ever, his second fight with Pacman was a fight fought at a very high level.
I know he hit the floor vs Barrera and Pacman fairly recently, but Diaz isn't that clever in his offense, just relentless pressure. And in a way he is the perfect opponent for a master counterpuncher.
I expect the rounds to be easy to score but I wouldn't be surpised if the cards are close or even if it goes as a split decision for Marquez.
A knockout of Diaz is unlikely, if it happens it won't be before the 11th round.
I actually think Diaz might pull off a close decision. Marquez is 35 years old (?) and I think the pressure and punch volume from Diaz may finally make Marquez look old.
Baby bull UD...JMM has slowed over the years and has taken more risks lately due to his reflexes slowing. He is gonna be facing a Younger,Fresher and stronger fighter in Diaz. JMM doesn't have the inside game of Nate so it won't matter comparing what Nate did to what JMM could do. Diaz will be in his face all night and I don't see JMM having a strong enough inside game to keep up for 12 rnds!
Not only that but Nate is a bigger fighter than Marquez, in fact i believe hes even fought at 147 at one point in his career and the fact that he has out grown lightweight now even further proves that point. I think we can also make a case for Nate punching harder than Marquez.

jmm has just been the first man to stop joel c, something big puching lightweights freitas and corrales couldnt do. For alls we no jmm could be punching harder than ever at his new weight?
Casamayor is not only past his prime( which was noticeable in his last few fights) but he also started his career around featherweight, so the size difference between Marquez and Casamayor was not that big if there a size difference at all. Diaz has always been a lightweight his whole career, hes use to taking punches from natural lightweight punchers and his chin is granite. I also thought that stoppage against Casamayor was on the quick side, it was a great win though.

casamayor is semi-shot
I think Diaz will win a close unanimous decisions, i just have one of those feelings. Hes younger, hes stronger, hes fought at lightweight his whole career, he can take a better punch and hes been in with the bigger punchers as well. I think Freitas is a bigger puncher than Marquez, so if Diaz had no problem taking his power and still put on steady pressure then he should have no problem doing it against Marquez who will give him those opportunities by trading with him. The fight is also in Diaz's home town.
Ive never seen Diaz hurt that much, Ive seen him dropped once earlier in his career but that's about it. I see Marquez land at will against a Rocky Juarez who couldn't even see the punches coming( over that bad cut) and he didn't even stun him one time. Diaz has a great chin and has fought punchers on another level than Marquez, i don't see him stopping Diaz unless its by a cut. If anyone is getting stopped in this fight, its Marquez. With that being said, Marquez does have power and anyone can be hurt in a fight, i just don't think it will happen here.

Jmm has beter timeing, better ring genralship, has a better boxing brain, more experience in big fights and has the power to hurt diaz. Dont underestimate jmm power.
JMM what power. He is the definition of a counterpuncher. He times his punches so well that he thinks he has power. As he goes up in weight he will keep hitting that canvas. His chin is so so but his balls to get up and fight are never in question. JMM 116-112.
