Felix Trinidad
OR
Marco Antonio Barrera
I wish I could limit the poll to just those who aren't from either of the two countries, because this rivalry runs deep, and I have a hard time believing anyone is going to be crossing over on this one.
since the de la hoya fight doesnt count for tito, and makes his ww run a bastardised alphabet, MAB easily....and i HATE MAB......
MAB was alos the far better fighter, p4p...
I think Marco Antonio Barrera has a slightly better resume than Trinidad and at the time Barrera is still fighting and if he wins a lightweight title than i see him have a slight but clear adv resume wise(as long as its against a decent opponent and not someone on Kahns level).
To me, resume means who you have beaten. On that basis, I am going with Tito.
I like them both but prefer Marco, so I can hardly be accused of bias on this one.
How are Vargas and David Reid or whatever Trinidad's second best win is (excluding De La Hoya) better then Hamed and Morales? You can make an arguement for Hamed, but not Morales. Barrera beat Morales twice too...
Im closer to Trinidad,in ethnicity, but with that said,Barerra was the underdog against Prince Naz and beat the crap out of that man,in one of the best performances of my lifetime!!After being pummeled by Pacman,Barrera got his retribution in the rematch,by going the distance and despite lossing, fought well!!
Trinidad got a gift ud against DLH,dont get me wrong,he put together a string of impressive victories, but in the biggest fight of his career,in which he was the favorite,he took a helacious beating from B-hop and never looked that great again!!
BTW when listing the 10 top fights I could have actually come down further with Barrera's as far as quality opponents go.
Alot of people think Barrera started when he fought Hamed or Morales the first time, but those fights were really leading into the second dominate phase of his career, he already had alot of great wins previously.
It's a push in my opinion. I think Barrera's wins over Morales and Hamed are better than Trinidad's wins over Vargas and Oscar, but outside of that I tend to favor the work Trinidad put in.
Plus, Tito wasn't dominated and stopped in his prime.
Well lets look at top 10 wins
Trinidad
Oscar De La Hoya
Pernell Whitaker
Hector Camacho
Fernando Vargas
William Joppy
Maurice Blocker
Ricardo Mayorga
David Reid
Oba Carr
Yori Boy Campas
Barrera
Erik Morales (x2)
Naseem Hamed
Paulie Ayala
Johnny Tapia
Kevin Kelley
Kennedy McKinney
Agapito Sanchez
Rocky Juarez
Carlos Gabriel Salazar
I'll have to go with Barrera
Robbie Peden
tito trinidad all day.. im not rican or mexican and im not into the race wars or anything like that. at the end of the day, tito fought all the top dogs and beat most of them.. successfully covered 147, 154, and 160.. thats damn impressive
id say barrera. Faced maybe abit better oposition that tito. Pacquiao, morales, marquez,j jones, hamed the list goes on. And hes a very skillfull fighter and exciting with it. Imo he's that bit better than tito. Puerto rican fans will disagree lol.
