1st off let me say that I did not score it so I cant fully say what was what. However, I will also say that I feel that the mass media & fans are biased against pure boxers. Its like if you dont try to brawl or knock guys out then you suck, so therefore I always try to take up for them. Even with that and with Martinez being the pure boxer in this matchup, I felt that it was a super close fight and I could easily see a draw. I didnt come on here after the fight last night but I cant beleive that so many people on here think that Martinez clearly won without any debate and some think he dominated.
To me, this fight was kind of like Taylor vs Spinks. People gave Spinks alot of credit for how he was moving and stuff but he still never really landed any punches and I felt the same way last night. I think fans listen to the HBO commentators and Lederman way too much on there picks. The HBO guys always see one thing from the jump and they will stay on it non stop and never switch no matter if the action turns or not. I felt Martinez was doing well early when Lederman was giving Cintron the rounds but then Lederman & the commentators talked non stop about how Martinez was outboxing Cintron from then on and I didnt see it.
I felt that Martinez was just moving and thats it. There were times where it would be the exact halfway point of a round and Max would start going on and on about how Martinez is totally controling the fight right now when Im dead serious in saying that I dont even think Martinez had landed one punch in the round at that point. I think he gave the illusion that he was winning or something because he was moving like he normaly does but he never landed a punch while Cintron was landing a few. I swear I think if people rewatch that fight and turn the sound down then they will see a different fight. Again, I cant be totally sure of the score because I didnt score it but it seemed like a draw from what I was watching and I definatly felt that Cintron won alot of those middle rounds that people act like Martinez dominated.
Dont get me wrong though, both guys sucked. It was a horrible style matchup, and Cintron looked like a non confident bum who had no pure boxing skills but Martinez looked like a bum ass Calzaghe and was equaly as bad and sloppy to me. Until the knock down he seemed pure scared of coming in at Cintron because he was afraid to get hit back. Thats why I dont see this dominant performance that others see. I felt as crappy as Cintron looked, he was actually outboxing Martinez in those middle rounds. Max use to be my boy but I disagree with him in nearly every fight now. It almost seems like every single time that they make it seem like one guy is owning it, the other guy is actually fighting better to me
Dunno why anyone is saying Kellerman of all people was biased toward Martinez, when he spent the first 4 rounds saying how Martinez was overated, because Bunema was completely shot in their fight.
I mean he repeated it like 5 times.
Way to get attention for yourself though
Martinez was robbed!! Come on. He out boxed Cintron and landed the harder punches.Cintron was too flat footed and did nothing to cut the ring off. Martinez was the better fighter.

martinez wasnt just moving... he knockdown cintron
Cintron won the first 2 rounds. Then Sergio started to dominate due to Cintron lack of experience agaisnt southpaws. Any other boxer would had pressure Martinez and cut the ring. Kermit just stand there and move his head and upper body making Martinez miss a lot of punches. Cintron showed us once again he is not a developed boxer. A waste of athletism.
forget the ref ending the fight or not, just admit that Martinez clearly won the fight and let it end there, he was robbed last night. If, I were his manager I file to have that ref never referee a fight again.
I have never said Martinez did not win, I just said that he did not knock him out as ruled by the ref. 8 round to 4 115-111 Martinez, when you take into account knockdowns and deductions
I watched this shit fight three times, the third time was because I was arguing about the stoppage. I still have not seen the ref stop the fight, say it is over or make the hand single that the fight is over with. The ref did not look like he ended the fight right there, Cintron flipped out about the head then Martinez started to celebrate like it was over, which lead to mass confusion but I never saw the ref do anything like stopping the fight. He might have counted ten but he never did anything that said Cintron did not make it.
If the ref himself said he did not end the fight right there, there really should not even be any argument about this (was it not much easier to end the fight there, then to start the fight up again ).
It is up to the ref to end the fight and he did not, so it is not a knockout. The ref most certainly could have ended the fight right then and no one could have said a thing otherwise , but that is not what took place.

you saw the wrong fight, not a fan of either man, but last night Martinez clearly won and dominated Cintron
I disagree with everyone about the Cintron fight

If they didnt think it was over, why was Cintron and his camp thinking it was? Why was there any confusion between rounds if this was so clear?
Well Cintron flipped out, which started all the confusion. When Cintron started flipping out, Martinez started celebrating like he got the knockout (who can blame him) so there was just a lot of confusion if you ask me, the ref was also not clear at all with what he did and what in general was going on (until he had everyone clear the ring to start up the fight again), I will give you that and that really added to the confusion.
I thought I saw him do it, I'll see again when they replay in a few minutes, but he was still telling Cintron that he didnt see a headbutt and its over, at least I thought he said something to that extent.
He definetly told Cintron he did not see the butt. If he would have ended the fight right there I would have had no beef with the fight ending, I just never saw him give a definitive ending to the fight. Really Cintron took a huge chance waiting that long to get up, most refs would have ended the fight, but this ref did not seem to end it there (atleast to me).
the ref did say it was over..then cintron started crying yet again
No the ref did not say that, someone else said the fight was over. All the ref said was he did not see any head butt.
Even if he did say the phase "it is over", it is a non specific phrase that could mean any number of things are over, for example maybe he wanted Cintron to stop bitching because he got caugh clean so he would say "it is over" meaning he got his ass knocked down, and there is nothing to argue about.
the ref reached the count of 10 so it should have been over, he was counted out. when cintron started complaining he didn't wave the fight off and told cintron to go to his corner. not to mention he got extra rest during their debate.
My point was that I usually give the pure boxer way more respect then the brawler and even I thought he lost alot of those rounds that people gave to him. He was just moving alot of times and not doing anything
You have absolutely no concept of ring general ship do you?
Being in a position to dictate the pace of the fight means you are winning. When no punches were being exchanged, its because Martinez didn't want any punches to be exchanged. When punches were exchanged, they were because Martinez wanted them to be.
Martinez was in control all night, how you were unable to see that is beyond me.
Nope, he waved his hands which indicates that a fight is over. And by suggesting maybe he was saying the round was over is wrong too, because according to the ref, Frank Santore, "I didn't hear the bell, that's why there was some confusion. Cintron got up at the count of nine so the fight was not over."
He said it was, Ronnie Shields, Cintron's trainer was telling Cintron to show some class when he was complaing, it wasnt until between rounds when they went to the table and argued, truth is, they didnt want to stop such a big fight on what possibly could have been a head butt, Cintron saying it was had everyone in doubt, but the ref did wave the fight over it should have been over.
I watched for that he never waved it off.

Again though, dont get me wrong. I still think Cintron sucked. It made me mad because he never even tried to impose himself on Martinez. He never tried to rush him or outmuscle him. I dont know if it wouldve worked but I felt like he shouldve tried something but instead he was just waiting on Martinez all night like he was Sweet Pea or something. The thing for me is though that Martinez wasnt doing anything either and was just dancing most of the night. It was just a crappy fight but I think Cintron made it alot closer then people think.
PLEASE JUST REWATCH THE FIGHT. Even better if you watch it with the sound off
Dude what are you smoking??? Martinez CLEARLY won that fight. For one it should of been stopped once the ref counted 10 and waved the fight off. And even though he made them fight again Martinez still boxed Cintrons ears off. Cintron was just looking for one punch for the majority of the fight. Just look at his face he was getting knocked around all fight practically. Off the top of my head I can only really count about 4 or 5 good punches that Cintron landed on Martinez.
