From a Margarito fan...

Just think of some the superlatives that have been used to describe Margarito over time.. "unreal" "freak of nature" "inhuman" ... and what's REALLY sad.. is it's true.. Plastered hands WILL make you seem all those things ... I used to think it was God Given Talent... And I loved that this C Class Fighter had enough X factor to beat A Class fighters.. I feel so deceived.. I remember after he beat Cotto that there was a lot of people that there was just no way that he could have beaten up cotto the way he did...people talking about he must have used some steroids or something...I gained respect for Margo after he beat cotto up but in my eyes he's nothing but a POS cheater and his biggest wins have gone down the drain. The thing is that even without cheating he would have still been able to beat Cintron but not Cotto, simple as that

One thing that I don't hear is how Capetillo said he didn't do anything wrong, he just wrapped them the same way he always has yet now he said that he didn't know he made a mistake??? BS. This has been done for some time and they BOTH know it. Simple as that.

I don't care if you have a lucky charm that boosts your moral or Psyche 100%, it's not going to help your chin. He's guilty, fuk him but I can't say for sure what he did in the past. Doesn't matter though, his career is all but over unless he comes back after the year and shocks everyone. his chin is not in question here; that's a point not up for debate.

He had to have known what Cap was doin before the SSM fight, but that still don't mean he's done it before. But his rep is stained and nobody will believe him so it's moot at this point. It sucks cuz it's bad for boxing and he was just startin to get his career on the fast track, but he brought it on himself.

i disagree; the hands - getting harder and harder as the fight goes on gives you a psychotic mental edge. Trust that man loaded his gloves against cotto - which was the fight that would propel him to future 7 figga paydays if he wins; it was the fight to have to win. Money is the greatest motivator, and margo had a lot to lose in not winning that one. Its just logic. It's been said before, fighting is 10% physical 90% mental and if a loaded glove'd margarito has the x-factor knowing that his punches are getting harder as the fight goes on - it diminished everything that man's done in the ring. well, to be fair, pac and jlc have never been caught cheating neither had margarito ;) and cotto had never been beat before either ;) There's more cheaters that don't get caught then do.

But you are right, they have never been CAUGHT cheating... who knows, but this is something that people haven't figured out about boxing. I'm no expert but I've actually taken a more active part in the sport than just watching TV and reading websites... and one thing for sure... boxing is NOT clean sport.. Hell, it never was... wraps, roids, contracts, negotiations... there are a million ways people seek advantages over their opponents. Very few of them are admirable. The wraps are a disgrace... but I'm in the minority that thinks Shane's steroid use during the De La Hoya bouts is a disgrace... Hopkins openly admitting to using illegal tactics as an advantage is a disgrace... When Jeff Lacy said he tackled an opponent on purpose when he was stunned... is a disgrace. I guess me and you have diffrent deffinitions for what a cheater is... A cheater to me is a coward...and a coward by deffinition has No Heart. If he had HEART he wouldnt be in the spot he is in right now...He would of called Capetillo out... Capetillo made a coward out of Margarito...Even if margo didnt know...Ignorance is never an excuse... How much Heart does it show to let your "Father Figure" take the blame for something you know damn well you had full knowledge of... F this guy...I have no sympathy or kind words for him...He's a cheater and should be ostrosized ...he is an embarrasment to all the mexican warriors that showed what REAL HEART and WILL was all about.... Excuse me if i don't have any Fluffy Feelings for this man. It does come down to our definitions of a cheater. I looked it up, just for kicks on Miriam-Webster Online. Neather cheater, nor coward, say anything about lack of heart. And I'm not trying to absolve Toni of wrongdoing, nor do I have Fluffy Feelings for him. Other than a phone interview 2 years ago, I've never even had contact with Margarito. The question is, does he lack HEART?... I think having never quit during a fight and having never let up or backed away is a much better representation of heart (and the lack thereof) than cheating. Our disagreements is symantics only, otherwise we're on the same page. Except, iggnorance never being an excuse. Ignorance should never be an excuse used by the person who was ignorant, but for the rest of the world, we have to have mercy on people who truly were ignorant (and I'm not saying that Margarito was, just that there is a definite posibility to those who are slightly above the intelligence curve)

I have to be real for a second here. I was a big fan of Margarito because he was such a hard worker and his style in the ring was very exciting. Now that all of this has come out, he has tarnished his name forever. Let's just say for the sake of argument that he didn't wrap his hands illegally against Cintron or Cotto or any other opponent before Mosley, nobody will ever believe he didn't do it. It's sad because he has had such a great career and being only 30 still has a good few years in his prime in the sport. I don't think that he will ever bounce back from this and it's a shame that it had to come to this. I'm very disappointed in Marg and his trainer especially and I can't believe that Marg wasn't aware of what was going on being he and his trainer were so tight. His performance against Cotto was epic and we will never know if he had illegally wrapped his hands that was in that fight but now it doesn't matter. I have lost all respect for Margarito because of this and it's a shame that it had to go down like this. If there's a slim chance that his trainer was doing this without Marg knowing or understanding it, then he should immediately fire his trainer and separate himself from him forever but I believe in my heart that he knew what was up. Bro, I respect your comment a great deal. You basicly said everything I thinking. There will be guys on this site that will state they know 100% for sure he had to use them in other fights. I will not do that because it will never be proven. I will say I feel 99.988% confident that he used them in other fights though and he knew about it. Listen, I respected the way Margarito fought but did want Cotto and Cintron to win their fights. Yes I'm Puerto Rican....but I grew up in Southern California and always respected the great Mexican fighters. When Margarito prevailed I was happy for him. I though he earned it. My gut feeling is I was wrong. He did not earn it. It's too bad because boxing needs exciting fighters like him. Make no mistake, he will fight again but as far as I'm concerned his record is VOID! He will be 0-0 in his next fight for me. Oh ya,..By the way Cintron and Cotto are undefeated again too.....! Margarito always displayed hart. I will always respect that about him but his soul is a bit weak. too bad I was looking forward to Margarito -Cotto #2...

i agree man, and am disgusted with tony,and his camp. i really enjoyed him as a fighter, but can no longer support him.

what i dont understand is that margo was a huge welterweight... why would he need to cheat????
