Im sure this thread has been here b4 but im new and just want peoples opinions....i know they had a big weight diff but lets say they both fouhgt at 154...id have to go with roy just bc of his power
Yea this thread's been done before. But on topic, it couldn't happen at 154. Regardless, if each had his skillset in his prime and they were the same size, RJ KO's PBF.
Well at 35 years old roy won the heavy weight title so even out of his prime he was a beast. In his prime everyone knows he could not be beat. I bet you at age 35 Floyd Meaayweather is no where near the p4p king. Roy was the first heavyweight champion to come from 160 at that time. Holla at me in five years. Prime Roy would of beat Floyd from ring post to ring post.
at 147 floyd was on the downside of his prime...his body was breaking down
So wait...a "broken down" Floyd will beat today's Cotto, Pacquiao, or Mosley?
hold on now..floyd beat castillo twice..so that fight shouldnt be mentioned..but yea no 1 beats prime jones..but no 1 beats prime mayweather either
But Floyd quit when he reached his prime...Roy didn't :dunno:
Yea what he said. Noone beats a prime Roy. While Roy was shutting out James Toney, and beating Bernard one handed, Floyd was getting gift descisions against jose luis Castillo. Roy would have made Cstillo look like Vinnyy Paz. Floyd is great, but Roy was absolutely unbelievable. Ill take unbelievable over great 7 days a week.
floyd has more skill. roy may have been a little more athletic, but in no shape or form does roy have more gifts than floyd. floyd is better defensively, fought off the ropes better, jabbed much better, countered better. overall, floyd was the better fighter and i would favor him to win on his skillset alone. roy hit harder, had faster hands, and was accurate also like floyd, but was never as technically gifted as floyd, and he would have to be to beat him, period. roy's size could be too much for floyd, but if they were the same weight and started off at the same weight, floyd beats roy, bar none. he is the most fluid fighter of this era and roy's era.
That's not always true.
Being a defensive fighter is definitely a huge asset as far as being a fighter is concerned, but it doesn't always work well with guys like Roy who used his speed and athleticism to throw his opponents' game plan out the window, along with the mind games.
Floyd's style works for guys like a Hatton or Corralles (RIP) who would continue moving forward throwing punches at a huge rate. Roy was very selective of his shots and was incredibly accurate.

N*gro please...do you ever write about anyone else?
I'd like to see Floyd Mayweather shut out a prime James Toney. How bout that?

If they were the exact same size. The fight would be like Judah - Mayweather. But Jones being KO'D
