Would Mosley stop Cotto? I think Shane has a great chance of doing so. Cotto did a great job of countering early and then late the pressure got to him. For some reason Mosley wasn't able to close the show.
Cotto can beat Shane on the back foot too even if Mosely decides to be the agressor all fight. Watch the 9th and 11th round. The 12th was clearly a give away round.
But there are pople who supposedly give Shane all four of the Championship rounds for some insane reason. So what do I know.
Comparing Mosley fighting Margarito to Mosely fighting Cotto is crazy. Margarito is a 1 dimensional brawler (although he is still great at what he does). Cotto is a slick boxer-puncher. The fights would not be the same.
In the Mosley-Cotto fight, Cotto's speed and boxing skills confused Mosley and screwed up his game plan. Cotto would do the same thing again. Mosley would try to put that pressure on (like Margarito did to Cotto), however it would not work the same due to Cotto's boxing skills. That is not to say that Mosley would not win though. I think it could go either way.
I gotta go with Cotto. It would be a great fight no doubt.
he is the more experienced fighter no doubt about it - but smarter ... eh that might be a stretch - when you outbox and outspeed a guy whos supposed to do that to you, i.e. cotto - then you're the smarter fighter.
but the cats out of the bag on how to beat the tijuana tramposo's shit - there aren't that many tricks.
cotto stays on the back foot again and out boxes mosley to win the rematch.
He's a smarter fighter. Cotto continually expended energy and got into exchanges that he didn't have to. And a guy as slow as Marg should have neer been able touch Cotto up as much as he did. Shane has fought forward his entire career he wasn't going to back up after every exchange. With experience comes knowledge. Plus Cotto couldn't have been too smart thinking he could trade with the bigger man on the ropes.
Simple adjustment. Shane is just the smarter more experienced fighter. He did the same to negate some of Cotto's body punches.

cotto gets in that ass again the 2nd time - establishing himself as the class of the welters.
cotto's just a younger, more versatile fighter at this point who can do more.
did anyone notice that shane started clinching from the first round - that's ALL cotto needed to do to win that fukken fight; illegal hand wraps and all.

mosley looked the worse he has in any fight against cotto ...i think nazim would develop a game plan to beat cotto ... i actually had shane winning the fight but it was a close fight ...
Had mosley winning the first fight by a point.
No doubt if the first fight was an old school 15 rounder that Mosley would have KO'd Cotto. I think Shane takes the rematch with an improved gameplan, out pointing Cotto or possibly stopping him.
Either way, Mosley in his prime would have destroyed Cotto as Cotto is not nearly as durable or as strong as Shane.
I still got Cotto winning once again.
Style make fights.
Cotto wont be there at Shane's disposal to land a mass amount of shots and he's gotta worry about Cotto's speed and power as well. Two totally different fights.
Guys, just because Shane was able to beat Marg doesn't mean he's gonna run through Cotto. After the Mayorga fight, Shane was supposedly past-it, and now, post-Marg, he's gonna KO the guy who beat him in a clear, if close, decision?
Of course, it does depend on how much the Marg fight has taken out of Cotto.
But I still see Cotto winning that one. He'll work behind a strong jab and he isn't as open as Marg, so Shane won't be able unload on him like he did last night. Not to mention that he looked as fast as Shane in their first fight. And he has the confidence to know he's already beaten him once, and took his best shots without getting rocked.
I never thought that at all. It's hard to look good agaisnt Mayorga. He's a wild fighter that forces you into akward exchanges at times. Those whoed that fight as a barometer for his future fights were reaching. Plus there was no doubt that Shane adjusted and kicked his ass late.
I think Mosley now knows how to fight Cotto both from his own experiences towards the end of their first fight and from watching Cotto fight Margarito, I think he'll come out pressuring Cotto from the beginning, I see Mosley winning the rematch.
Yup
And if he fights like he did last night Cotto won't make the distance.
non stop props to mosley, he fought the best fight of his career. however, tony was an opponet that was perfect for shanes style of fighting. A rematch with cotto should deffently happen. as for the winner of that fight, i see cotto winning again. shane has much more trouble with cotto's ability to slugg or box and his speed as we have already seen. i see cotto winning very simmilar as he did the first time out, by a close UD or SD.
With Richardson I think he's going to try to do what Margarito did only take less shots in the process. In the 1st fight he really didn't bang to the body as much as he should ahve that really slowed Cotto down in the Margarito fight so he's going to go that. I can see him winning possibly by stoppage
