I really think he would...just styles wise. I think Clottey gives everyone some trouble, but I think Cotto wins an 8-4 type decision...I guess saying easy decision is going too far, you're right.
But the only way we've seen Cotto troubled is by pressure. Clottey doesn't apply any pressure. Cotto is faster and more accurate. I think it would be a boring fight and Cotto would pick him apart. Clottey's got a good straight right, which could give him trouble, but all I'm saying is that when Cotto is allowed to dictate the pace he's difficult to beat. And Clottey would let him dictate the pace.
Yeah that's what I mean too, I believe on the night of the Margarito fight, Cotto would beat any welterweight maybe with the exception of Williams (I still give Cotto a chance to beat him too). Margarito just had the right formula, granite chin, relentless work rate, and excellent mixing of punches.
Whoa, now I doubt it would be an easy decision. I think Cotto has the tools to win, as he does with any fighter in the division, but saying he will gain an easy decision is going overboard. Clottey does apply enough pressure, his speed and overall strength would give Cotto a tough fight. He is also a ring technician as is Cotto, so he is not a guy Cotto can easily pick apart.

I don't think Clottey is doing his part, either. I'm from up here and I've never seen him ringside at the fights. It's not like he can't get tickets.
He was at Cunningham-Adamek, but most likely because his guy Agbeko was on undercard
Clottey gets WAYY too much credit for being competitive with Margarito. He was competitive with Tony, and beat......who? A totally shot Judah? A blown up, totally shot Chico? I do think he's very good, but people really get carried away with him.
He'd lose to Tony again, he just can't sustain that pace.
He's TAILOR made for Cotto. Cotto only has trouble with guys that throw uppercuts, and have a high workrate. Clottey fights at a more measured pace than Cotto, that would allow Cotto to dictate the pace of the fight. Clottey would get picked apart by Cotto to a fairly easy decision.

Yeah Clottey dosen't seem to be getting much luke at the minute, and Arum dosen't really seem interested in marketing him to the public eye, sad really as Clottey is a very good/underatted fighter who just isn't getting the chances.
He's a world champion, his only true loss coming at the hands of the #1 Welterweight Antonio Margarito , in which i had him winning the first 4 rounds before his hand broke. And he holds wins over good name fighters etc Judah, Corrales. But yet tv networks still reject him.Not right.

The funny thing is how people say how deep the WW division is and Clottey has more lucrative fights @154 available. @ WW only Quintana is available and thats if he hasn't definately moved up. @ 154 there is Santos, Mora, Forrest, Dzinziruk, Phillips, Alcine, Foreman, Bunema. Or he can fight a mandatory or wait for Berto/Collazo winner.
I do see where your coming from. His career could be similar to Quartey. I think his stamina was the main problem in the Margarito fight.
I'm not a hater either, I like Joshua. I just think he can beat most small welters who don't have an overwhelming workrate and will allow him to dictate the tempo and give him his space. Margarito and Williams are not that. A fight with Cotto would be very interesting because Cotto is a very skilled fighter in his own right, and he has a manageable pace for Clottey, but at 147 I think Cotto is a beast and would favor him slightly.
If Clottey is such a ****en bad ass how come he couldn't get over his swollen hands and throw a punch in the second half of his fight with Tony. He's not as bad is everyone is making him out to be. He has a very well made style, great defense and is strong as hell, but he has a shitty workrate and fades late in fight. I wish I could say he would beat Paul Williams because I like Clottey more, but William's workrate would pound him all night while he never came out of his shell.
Also fighting a Margarito that isn't coming of off a nine month layoff, with an ankle injury in training camp, and a wrist injury that actually required medical attention not just swollen, would be a different story. The guy is solid all around, but come on. Give me a call when he starts finishing strong and not holding and crawling to the finish line against Feliz Flores and Shamone Alvarez. This guy is underrated by most, but overrated here on boxingscene. His best win is Zab, and his second best is a lost to Margarito where he won a few of the early rounds but then he got an ouchy and couldn't throw any more punches.
I won't deny he is getting the short end of the stick, but when he get's those big fights he will come up short, just wait and see.

Arum has Cotto and Margarito,at ww.He makes more money with those 2 guys so he is gonna leave Clottey in the dark.Clottey is not overratted,he beats Cotto or Margarito, the only ww that would beat him is Williams!!The man needs a new promoter, who's got his back!!

Watch this youtube interview to find out what he thinks.. must be really frustrating for him.
Clottey is pissed at Arum. Arum knows Clottey doesn't have much marketability, and like he said, they are using him.
Feliciano is knockoutable he has like 5 or 6 knockout losses, Hopkins, who has no power, knocked Feliciano out. N'duo doesn't get outed out but if Paulie Malignaggi, of all people, knocked him down clean you would think Cintron could has well. Margarito is on anothe level though.
Best one punch has to go to Juan Manuel Lopez, Margarito, feliciano, and N'duo are all Cintron's recent fighters he didn't one punch KO. Feliciano is very knock-outable and Cintron TKOed him with a series of punches.
Feliciano is NOT knockoutable.. NOT at all
Watch his fights.. He has a Granite chin..
Nobody knocks out Ndou
Nobody knocks out Margarito
The last few guys he fought had great chins.. Ive seen him fight live.. His Ko's are brutal
Not saying Clottey's unbeatable but he gives any of the top w.w's hell; if they fight
He's now fighting Sergio Gabriel Martinez for the WBC interim title on Feb 14 on HBO WCB, the reason for this was due to the fact that there was more money in this fight for him.
I really am starting to feel for him, it's pretty fuked up Arum isnt doing anything for him. Who do you guys think will finally end up on his plate
^^^^^
I feel you bro, he's one hell of a good fighter, PWill shouldnt be claiming the name of being most feared, because Clottey is the guy who is most feared, He even called out PWill when PWill said no one wants to fight him....nuff said.....
Joshua Clottey would beat Cotto because he has better defense, better counter, and more durable, he is just to big. Cotto's defense is nice but he has to much holes in his game and Clottey is heavy handed.

Wtf?!
I used to be a fan on Cintron..
Not anymore..
Cintron is ****ed either way.. No way in hell does he beat Martinez..
Cintron does have the BEST power in the game tho.. The best 1 punch KO fighter in the game right now.
