I had seen some of the card but here is the complete card, according to a friend of my brothers who's over at staples or aeg. The two main supporting bouts look like they could be exciting and I know some guys on here said some of the young guys were good, even if not well known. Looks like a decent card, especially for the price. It's been selling real well and I can't wait for it, I hope it's electric.

They waited until two weeks before the fight to finalize the undercard and ended up with this. I bet if they'd gotten some things firmed up before Christmas people would have more to be excited about. But instead they were satisfied with the main event. It's not a bad undercard. Its just a pretty big drop off from the main event.
All the reports seemed to indicate sales were very good at the box office, so I think they saw absolutely no need to throw us a bone. Especially since only the main bout is on HBO. Whatever I'm there to watch Tony vs Shane, any other good shit I get to see is just a plus.
He's been off training as well or only off fighting?
Big diff.
Many boxers are only fighting once or at the most twice a year, nothing to be cocky about. He's up with a bum, let's face the fact.
Edel Ruiz is not a bum. Have you seen him fight? I'd guess not. Guerrero should beat him, but Ruiz is a decent fighter.
Either way, Guerrero is fighting again in six weeks probably against a good opponent. This is a good stay busy fight for Guerrero at this point in his career. The problem is that Golden Boy and Top Rank let this fight be the co-feature. They should have found a better co-feature. But there's nothing wrong with Guerrero having this fight six weeks before his HBO debut.
Did you maybe think that since he's been off for 11 months that Golden Boy was getting him some work in 6 weeks before they plan to put him on a Boxing After Dark card where he'd be matched a lot tougher?

Robert Guerrero is fighting a guy who's lost 7 of his last 10....doesnt look like Guerrero is stepping up in competition any time soon..

i was seriously contemplating going but i dont know if anymore...i'd basically be going to watch just the main event...no disrespect to the prospects on the card but im not gonna sit on the 210fwy for one fight

The fight that I'd like to see from the undercard is Juan Carlos Salgado-Mikey Bey. That's a really tough prospect-prospect matchup. I'm actually a little surprised both guys took that fight with such little exposure. Mikey Bey hasn't really done much as a pro but he was the 2003 US amatuer champion and just missed out on the 2004 Olympic team. Both guys are pretty tall for the weight 5'9" at 130 and have good power. That fight would have made a really good ShoBox co-feature or even main event. I bet the winner headlines a ShoBox card later this year.
Only the main event will be on HBO, so unless you are going the undercard shouldn't matter to you. This is a very expensive fight for regular HBO so I expected nothing more.
Damn that is a shitty card. Undercards start at 3 and by the looks of it I probably won't show up until 5:45 or 6:00 just in time for the guerrero fight.
Well lets break it down a bit
Ghost vs Ruiz is ok. Ruiz is a tough gatekeeper type fighter that comes to fight every time so we may see some action especially since Guerrero hasnt fought since last Feb
Roman vs Varela is going to be action packed
Salgado vs Bey is intriguing to me because Salgado is supposed to be a prospect people are high on but Bey is slick and a local prospect in LA
Belmontes vs Hernandez I thought this was the undefeated Pollo Hernandez from Riverside and not the 2-3 Hernandez. If so it might be a good one as Hernandez comes from Espinosa Boxing Club and Belmontes is a hyped fighter
McEwan vs Stovall- the battle of former sparring partners to Margarito. McEwan has been on Solo Boxeo a few times and is an tall action lefty. Stovall is a quick handed fighter who is better than his 10-2 record. This could be a fin fight
Korborov is the prospect Bob is high on so I am looking forward to seeing him
Broner is a GBP prospect my boy Rashad Holloway says is really good
so to me it's not bad. It's not the names people expect but at the same time I think the matchmaking was done well as each fight short of the young prospects and Guerrero vs Ruiz should be competitive
Hey is that Korobov dude the one that Arum has been saying incredible things about? Yeah the undercard is pretty crappy..... but when I'm drunk at staples filled with anticipatory joy of the mosley-margarito fight, I dont think I will care!
There's your typical garbage Golden Boy undercard. What a ****in shame.
shoosh, just be grateful its not a ppv. the Saul Roman fight could be pretty good, and we probebly will get a decent KO from Guerrero
what a shit card
Co-sign, Golden Boy and Top Rank bombed this card out, thats too bad.
Even the Guerrero fight is kinda wack and i like the Ghost, but they couldnt give him a lil better opposition??? Edel is has 31 wins and 21 losses....WTF????
That is whats causing boxing problems.
Even if they are not name, HBO could spend time doing a small doc/interview before the fights, but they won't.
Thats where the success lies in UFC, they BUILD-UP EVERY fight, not just the main event.
what a shit card
I knew it was going to be bad when it was so close to the day of the card and they had not announced shit. But, I bought my tickets the first day because the main event is what I'm concerned with. The price was very reasonable and I'm just going to be optimistic that the undercard is exciting even if the guys are not the top names.
But you're right, it would have been nice to get another world class or a championship level fight on there, even if it were a younger less established guy because none of these guys bring any name recognition to the table, we'll see about excitement.
