Where is our sport heading? Are we in trouble, have we got enough up and coming talent to lead our sport in the right direction?
Over in the U.K, we have an interesting set of middles/supper middles who all crossed over from the amateurs. James Degale, George Groves, Darren Sutherland, have been compared to Benn, Eubank and Watson. For those in the USA, these guys kept British boxing on its toes during the late 80's/early90's... And they hope the same happens with Degale,Groves and Sutherland.
Over in the States, how is the emerging talent looking? I mean, you guys had a poor olympic games, to say the least, so where are your boys gonna come from?
Other than, Kirkland and Ortiz i hav'nt seen much in terms of promising American boxers... And it really saddens me.
How can we keep up producing talented boxers? I heard Golden Boy are having an influence over the Amatuer American Olympic team, will that help produce better boxers?
What are your guys thoughts about this, boxing could well be dying if we fail to produce any more quality fighters.
What you guys think? Are we in trouble?
There is some good talent in the US, especially Berto, Andre Ward, and Demetrius Andrade. Boxing has the infrastructure to stay around for a long time. It's an Olympic sport, it's huge internationally, and Don King and Bob Arum are old guys ready to move on (die).

America's best athletes go to the NFL or the NBA
what ****ing 135-145 pound potential boxers do you know getting stolen by football or basketball?
truly idiotic statement... fighting appeals to a variety of sizes, most of which are unappealing to sports like basketball and football.
I don't think the sport is in trouble because it will adjust itself to stay alive. If profits go down then fighters just make less money, as simple as that. and if the profits go way too low, then the sport will probably convert to non-ppv cable tv.
There will always be a niche for boxing.
Stop looking at the past and start looking at the future. Often sentimentality can get in the way of really good fights.
The future of boxing;
Margarito
Cotto
Pacman
Mayweather
Khan
The Olympians
There are many many great fighters and fights out there
In 5 years time, Margarito, Cotto, Pacquiao, Mayweather may not be boxing, especially Mayweather and Margarito.
Khan and the Olympians???? Not all Olympians turn pro.
Boxing is FINE...It has problems like it always has had but it will prevail like it always has.
As far as American talent there is TONS of it some you just haven't heard the names yet: Ortiz,Kirkland,Cloud,Williams,Dawson,Alexander,Bradley,Ward,Dirrell,Andrade,Wilder,Arreola Lattimore,Garcia,Jacobs,Berto ETC,ETC,ETC.
Boxing will need to adjust as the saying goes "Only the strong survive" but Boxing has survived as history proves!
its not the lack of talent that will hurt boxings future, its the politics . greedy promoters, greedy santioning bodies with all those bullsh!t belts, and top fighters not willing to fight each other. hopefully boxing will learn its lesson. 2009 look promising so far
Are u an actual retard. You just insulted your own family lmao
Well Norwich is a place in the UK, I don't see how calling you a bum has anything to do with the entire population ****tard.
Because I even said that I'm related to Jon Thaxton and he aint anything special outside of the UK.

Why assume? If i did watch Bunces programme i would give him credit by mentioning an interesting topic i watched on his programme... etc etc
And for the record, Bunce talks shit... He has'nt got a clue half the time hence why i don't watch any of his shitty programmes. Its the same old stuff, Calzaghe this Calzaghe that... a load of crap.

I believe that there will be a void for a number of years, with a couple of exciting boxers before the new generation.
All I'm saying that is James Degale doesn't look special, if you see him talk he has no class and David haye's speech on him (I think it was him) saying that he is effective in amatuers because it's basically points system but his style won't be effective during his professional run.
yeah plenty of those guys. 1st nice body shot he takes hel willl be off to mummy

He's one of those jack-offs who show up at the gym, realise it's quite hard and bugger off to play pickup basketball.
Neh I run off home and play on my 360
James degale is a good prospect IMO. Money May look out for you lmao, have you ever sparred?
