Joe Calzaghe is what many call the BEST adjusting fighter there is. Calzaghe has built his legacy on fighting the top fighters allbeit late in his career. American people HATE Calzaghe because they wanted a fighter they could embrace as there own. Calzaghe did not destroy the dream, you Americans destroyed it by not embracing him. people love toohate calzaghe on here,its pretty pathetic no doubt,it probably has a lot too do with him beating two of their best fighters of the last decade towards the end of his career but everyone is entitled too their own opinion TS,a lot that is said about him is repeated over and over again and their are a few guys who are just worth ignoring because they dont know s**t

The SMW division is a relatively new division but he is defo the best in that division. .... perhaps even the best at LHW Ok he fought who he wanted to fight...but tell me one yank who hasn't been accused of ducking somebody? Thats boxing. He was great........

What i find funny is not many american boxers have fought abroad and have the cheek to say that about Calzaghe atleast he fought 3 times abroad and WON 3 times. From Calzaghe winning his title to Johnson moving up the guy lost more than he won and he was fighting people Calzaghe destroyed or people who had lost to people Calzaghe destroyed. What dissappoints me is not that he is recognized as a great fighter but that he deprived boxing fans of alot of exciting fights by engaging german beer hall bums and reality tv castoffs rather than legit contenders. People questioning Calzaghe's legacy really boils down to one person, Frank Warren.

Why didn't he fight the high profile fights when he was peaking? If he fought and beat Dawson( his best young threat and most accomplished young champion) then he could claim he fought the best, but until he truly wants to say he ruled two divisions then he has to go and see Dawson.
