A certain genius in these boards seem to not understand the idea of the natural weight classes for fighters.
He seems to think that since Marquez and Pacquiao have been coming into the ring at 144 and 147 in their 130 and 135 fights that it means they're the same size as Floyd.
Well? Are Marquez and Pacquiao the same size as Floyd Mayweather Jr.?
Please vote.
The difference between Floyd and Pac isn't as great as some of you are making it out to be. Plus you are the same ones saying he should fight Margarito like they are the same size.
Yeah but your forgetting the body frame which mayweather is bigger that manny
Yep
bigger the frame = the more weight you can carry healthily = naturally bigger = Mayweather
How small is Manny Pacman compared to Mayweather???
Manny P at 125 come fight night was 137
Manny P at 130 come fight night was 139
Manny P at 135 come fight night was 147
Manny P at 147 at fight night was 148
Mayweather at 130 come fight night was 131
Mayweather at 135 come fight night was 137
Mayweather at 140 come fight was 143
Mayweather at 147 come fight night is 149
Mayweather and Pacman both at the age of 16 fought at 106. Don’t let Tua use fights at lower weights to blind your thinking. If Mayweather started at 16 he would be fighting at the same weight as Pacman.
They are the same weight at WW and PACMAN AT 140 weights the same as Mayweather at 147/ Pacman walks around heavier
Yeah but your forgetting the body frame which mayweather is bigger that manny
Pacquiao was 98 lbs at 16, he put metal in his trunks to make weight. at this stage they are similar in size, but Mayweather was almost Oscars size at 150+, and he came in at 147.
Pacquiao will look smaller than Mayweather because his legs carry a lot of weight. He weighed more than Oscar but looked much smaller.
Well there you go, and Mayweather fought rougly around the same weight when he was in his teens as an amateur.
I'll say, Mayweather is a lil bigger but not by much.
roughly around the same weight doesn't mean the same size.
in their early 20's pac was at 122 , jmm was at 126 and floyd was at 130.
Rehydration for fight night and walk around weight are nowhere close to natural weight. Floyd is 1 of those gym nuts that can excersise and train 4 no purpose except for his narcissism. He fights and walks around close to his natural weight because of his gymrat lifestyle. Most people do not take this same approach when it comes to training.
Pacquiao and Marquez may balloon to weights higher than Mayweather when they are not training for a fight because they actually indulge in junk foods and lounge around. Does that mean they are naturally bigger than Mayweather if they have a higher fat % during this time period??
Bottom line is whatever weight you can slim yourself down to and still fight comfortably the following night is your natural weight. Fight night weighins dont mean shit about size as it's mostly water weight. Different fighters approach rehydration 4 fight night differently just as they approach training differently.
Fighters like floyd do not rehydrate as much because he is already comfortable where he is at.
Fighters like Pacquiao may fight at 135 but rehydrate all the way to 147. Much higher than necessary in order to give him some extra fuel to power his superior workrate.
Good Post.
Co-sign 100%
probably all of manny's flyweight fights were in his teens to early 20's.

pacquiao
28 fights at flyweight
11 fights at super bantamweight
4 fights at featherweight
8 fights at super featherweight
1 fight at lightweight
1 fight at welterweight
marquez
50 fights at featherweight
3 fights at super featherweight
1 fight at lightweight
out of 107 fights total for those two guys only 14 were at 130 or above.
floyd started his career at 130 (actually at 135 since he was weighing in at 131 or 133 a lot of times)
out of the 107 total fights for manny and juanma only 3 were at 135 or higher.
floyd won his lightweight championship 6 years ago!
How many of those fights of manny's were when he was under 20 years old???
Floyd started his pro career at age 20. When he was in the amateurs at age 16, 17.....he was around the same weight as Manny, only manny was fighting as a pro. And we all know Floyd rushed his way to 147. He could've stayed at 135 for alot longer and then moved up to 140 but he went for the big cash like the Pacman.

Agreed, on paper a Pacquiao victory is greater than a Margarito victory.
And on the discussion about size difference, Floyd is definetly bigger than Pacquiao but not by a high advantage. It wont make much of a difference to the outcome of the fight.
What was the weight difference between Floyd and Oscar when they fought?
floyd weighed in at 150 and oscar at 154.
tbh......margarito would probably be a tougher fight than pacquiao though the pacquiao fight might be scored closer. does that make sense?
namewise pacquiao definitely is a bigger win.
physically margarito would be tougher for floyd.

It's not that different from Floyd fighting Pac. How small is Paul anyway?
Come on dude, The diff. between Floyd and Will is much larger than the diff. between Floyd and Pac , this is going to be the excuse if Floyd wins
" Floyd was bigger than Pac , not fair "
2 minutes later
" Floyd should fight Marg or Williams "
How hypocritical
