Mexicans whether they be American or not have never really embraced Oscar as there own. They say Chavez never quit and the little respect they had for Oscar has vanished with his last outing with Manny (because he quit). So how will Mexicans view him down the road when they look back on his entire career? Thanks brown brothers.
20 years from now I think DLH will be remembered fondly as a six time champ who beat some excellent fighters and lost to some all time great fighters. He'll probably be appreciated even more as a promoter when people begin comparing him to the Don King's of the boxing world, as the man who put the money in the hands of the boxers and not just their pimps. When JC Chavez was still active, he wasn't universally embraced by the Mexcians (or Mexican-Americans) either. I remember the grumblings that he was aloof and preferred drinking brandy with Steve Wynn at the Mirage rather than getting drunk on beer with the locals the way Ruben Olivares did.
the Mexicans passed it onto them.
Yea I heard that when fillipinos go to Tijuana the Mexicans always give them dog meat in their tacos....:blackeye: he he he ....
Yes, one was smart enough to swim, crawl to the greatest country on earth!!
The other is content on eating rolled up chihuahua's for the rest of his life.
I thought only filipinos ate dogs????:lame:

wait a minute... is there a difference between mexican and mexican-american?
People are haters. Instead of being proud of oscar for all he accomplished people say he aint mexican. Whenever these mofo's see someone who is more successful and "better looking" than them they start talkin' shit. I notice this a lot, even among my friends and some family members. Oscar probably speaks better spanish than all the dude's and is more mexican than they'll ever be.
as for myself i just disapointed in de la hoya.... i mean he was the 1 that wanted this fight. and after seeing this fight.... am was just shocked.... speechless....... oscar didnt do shit.......... omg..... am just ****in speechlessssssssss
i went to mexico to see this fight but we didnt get to see it cause the satlite ****ed up so we didnt see hbo... we saw some fights on 'televisa' with this good flyweight 'chango' vargas in d.f. for the intrem wbo title.
some freinds called up and as soon as we heard the news......
everybody started bashing on oscar.......... everyone!!!!!!!!!!! even me........... this guy thought it was gonna easier fight with pacman......
people in mexico dont like oscar. . ..
sayin 'he aint no mexican' etc.... just bashing on him
people dont like him.. and he thought he was gonna avenge the mexicans with a victory with pacman........ etherway people dont like oscar........ every1 a margarito fan over there
just as chavez, margarito, and arce didnt support oscar is pertty much what it is...
Depends on who you ask i guess, some mexicans will always view him as a sellout that beat chavez, some will remember him as an overrated fighter who lost most of his big fights, or others like myself will remember him as a fighter who won in 6 divisions, and was the most marketable fighter in the late 90s till 2008 (if his fight with pac was his last).
I guess so, although I think more Mexicans think of him as a sellout/loser than what you think of him.
I don't think the majority that pay to watch him fight are Mexican.

DLH got what he deserved, his head handed to him. He picks and chooses who he wants to fight, when he wants to fight and usually doesn't deliver(see matches versus Mosley, Floyd, Tito, and Hopkins and now Pac) Mexicans and non Mexicans alike know he's not what boxing needs. A money hungry, greedy bitch that hasn't done shit in ten years yet controls the sport.
Pac gets full respect from me for acceptin what looked like a suicide mission and winnin it big. He stood up to a bully and punked his ass. It was DLH who went out of his way to call on Pac. Roach just manned up wit his fighter and accepted the challenge. And like I said, I don't think ethnicity should be a factor in this. But I'm just voicin an opinion and I ain't Mexican, so people can debate this shit however they want.
Roach was actually the one chasing after DLH and talking trash because he was certain DLH could no longer "pull the trigger" and it turns out he was right.. it's too bad DLH didnt realize it himself.
LOL. Yeah, Oscar had no choice in the matter did he. For ****'s sake, DLH like always wanted the biggest name in boxing at the present time and that was Pacman.
If DLH was for real, he would have lined up a fight with Margarito for the Welterweight title. But, oh no Margarito wasn't a big enough name for him.
Oscar could have and should have laughed of Roach's comments, but DLH used them as a lame excuse for fighting a much smaller guy, whom he was pretty certain he could beat. But that back fired on him and he now looks like a bitch.
If I hadn't given out too much today, I'd green you up for this my nig. Real talk.
DLH"s loss is still obviously fresh in peoples minds but it's happened to some of the best boxers as they've reached the end of their careers just like it happened to Chavez at the hands of de la hoya. He's accomplished alot in the sport and I think he will be remembered positively in the long run. As far as Mexican fans are concerned, well I cant think of many chicano boxers that have been fully embraced as their own because they have so many Mexican born champs to root for so I dont know why people are so obsessed with the topic.
Pac or you could say Pac fans wanted Delahoya.
Roach and Pac wanted Delahoya. They chose the money fight. So don't get it twisted.
