I think stylistically, Haye wins early, Arreola telegraphs a lot of his shots and has leaky defense, I think Haye knocks him out within 5, but if he doesn't, Arreola's chances increase, the longer the fight is, the better for Arreola.
I agree with that.
I dont. moving up a weight class in the lighter weights is nothing compared to moving up to heavyweight where the weight is unlimited. haye is giving up a lot of natural size and strength now. just look at his bone structure compared to the heavies. he still has a cruiserweight head and neck. his chin didnt look too good against the light hitting barret. he'll be exciting and win some good fights by kayo but he'll also be starched more than once against the bigger hitters
Arreola use to spar wit James Toney, and is courageous in his craft.. his heart, power and relentless pressure who muffel and deem haye defenseless from the bat...Haye may lay a couple bombs, but Arreola rough craftyness and punching of Hayes face would win him the match in 8!
Arreola just looks like a slow heavy-handed plodder. I just don't see how he can take what Haye will be throwing at him and at the same time hit Haye with those slow punches. They both have a lack of good fundamentals in common, but one guy is super quick and athletic, and the other is slow and overweight.
Like I've said before, I just see Arreola as in the same sort of bracket as a Sinan Samil Sam at best. I certainly don't think it would be wise to make Haye out as some sort of great heavyweight yet, but I'd heavily favour him against Arreola from what I've seen of both fighters.
In his what 9-10th fight I can't remember exactly, Wlad also lost very early
25th. A fight Wlad would've won had it not been a championship, and therefore a 12 round, fight. Before that he'd never been past 8 rds.
YOu got to give him a bit of credit there though, he does not always steps back, more like to the back and left(a very basic movement, but still better then straight back)
I agree on the other points though.
Here's the thing, I want to give him more credit than that but it's still a tough call with Haye. I want to see him in with a real durable heavyweight before I make any judgment calls. True, Barrett is a decent fighter but when you aspire to more than that, I need to see something more.
I really bought into the prefight hype, that here was the entrance of the next challenger to the title, and I was left with more questions than answers.
He reminded me of Hamed in a lot of ways. He did so many things wrong but the power erased a lot of it. I don't like how he squares up when he throws with both hands, he leaves himself open too much.
But I really can't see him beating a guy like Chris Arreola. Arreola, if nothing else, comes to fight. He is extremely confident, resourceful and brings it from bell to bell.
Kinda like the one he got caught with in his only loss at Cruiser?
Think about it.
In his what 9-10th fight I can't remember exactly, Wlad also lost very early
David Haye - Strong fighter with good speed, huge power, decent technique, shit defence and shit chin.
Chris Arreola - Strong fighter with shit speed, shit power, shit technique and a shit chin.
Haye KO.
I don't think you've seen Arreola fight my friend. if he didn't have any power or a good chin, he would have 0 wins.
Anyone that thinks Arreola's chin is weak needs to lay off the drugs. The guy has taken some seriously hard shots and only once in his career did he quickly take a knee. Walker landed some good shots, was rushing forward and Arreola was carrying too much weight to move back fast enough. Then Chris comes back in the same round to knock the guy down twice, at no time did he look seriously hurt, despite taking some clean hard shots in the fight.
Now that will be a must see heavyweight fight. Haye would probably box Arreola's socks off. But Haye is on Arreolas level more than the Klichkos
I've actually never seen Haye outbox anyone. He's more of a flurry fighter than a boxer. That means he lunges in, tries to get as much as he can get done, then steps straight back and waits to do it again.
He doesn't actually use a jab so it's hard to call it boxing.
Well the Producer and Stallone were sued by some club-fighter who claimed they based the movie on his life ....forgot the guys name though (i think he was irish or something)
Chuck Wepner AKA "The Bayonne Bleeder", who boasts wins over Randy Neumann and Ernie Terrell.
Here is the misconception here, and one that I think Wepner wanted to promote and use to his advantage, the story of Rocky was not based on his life, but inspired by. There are no similarities between Wepner's life and Rocky.
The inspiration to write a movie about a no-hoper giving it everything he had came from his fight with Muhammad Ali where he was never competitive but damn if he didn't try.
How does Arreola, who has scored third round TKOs over Travis Walker (28-1), Chazz Witherspoon (23-0), Thomas Hayes (26-1) and Israel Garcia (19-1), have "shit" power? The guy clearly has enough power to score early stoppages over decent competition, wouldn't you agree?
Arreola has a shit chin, but has only been on the canvas once. I don't get it.
I would say that Haye's "huge" power still needs to be tested against more durable heavyweights. Barrett has never been considered a big heavyweight, having weighed in at 213 pounds just last year. That effectively is what a cruiserweight would weigh in on the day of the fight.
Arreola has been knocking out real heavyweights, guys like Travis Walker who weighs in between 230-250.
And I wouldn't say Haye has the best technique really, he often leaves himself out of position to punch and rarely if ever counterpunches.
i agree with you man, im sorry azza mate but saying that a guy who gets KD and in the same round comes back and scores his own KD has a poor chin is just silly. the fight with walker reminded me alot of clazaghevs mitchell where joe got decked but came back to score a KO and then a TKO in the same round!!!!
when a fighter gets KD but comes back to win the next round or the fight he is tough but when he gets KD and comes back to win the same round hes i just a bad ass mofo!!!
i think hayes power is pretty legit, vs barrett he looked as though he could have had his man out of there at any point and at any round he chose, he had him going down with glancing shots and scuffed blows, the one time haye actually put his punches togther with a good left hook barrett was KTFO!
50/50 my arse. Arreola is a club fighter being ludicrously over-rated due to what I guess is desperation on the part of US fans. Unless you happen to believe in the tooth-fairy, or that 'Rocky' was a true story, an easy win for Haye.

Moving into any other division is not nearly as big a deal as moving into the heavyweights. There, all bets are off. Whatever you accomplished in other divisions is no longer relevant, this is a whole different ball game when you're dealing with 250 pound guys laying into your midsection.
I personally feel Haye is too small and too wild to make it to the top of the division, though I may be completely wrong. His speed is good, but it's not overwhelmingly good. His power has yet to be tested against a big heavyweight and he doesn't have much in the way of technique, really. The only guy who could get away with being Roy Jones is Roy Jones.
