Talkin boxing wit the family

my relatives are filipino so you know we always watch this one particular fighter. but to be honest, they're all pacfans, not boxing fans. me and my dad are the only real boxing fans who can get into a discussion that doesn't involve pacquiao. his boxing fix is limited to hbo and versus though so i always show him fights that i get from here and we always talk about how would fighter A do against fighter B. i try to avoid pacquiao discussions though because once he gets started he won't stop lol.

my dad knows his stuff. not as much now as when i was a kid though. 1980's: "michael moorer has great skills. when he moves up to heavyweight , he can become heavyweight champion. 2000's: "pacquiao is good but flash elorde would have knocked him out." :lol1:

Almost my pop's whole side of the family is town. The guys are all boxing diehards, and even the women in my family are at least casual fans. Anybody else got relatives that get down on some boxing? :boxing: I'm envious. We were a big Ali household. The day Ali lost to Spinx I punched out the kid across the street for talkin' smack about it... My ol' man was a big Ali fan, which pretty much made me a big Ali fan. Now I make him DVDs with all the current (lol, which for him starts in the 80's) good fights and when I go to visit we get loaded and watch em'. My brother is a pretty big fan, but that's about it. My pops, bro n' me. :boxing:

My parents hate boxing and my obsession with it. Probably why their other kids are such **** ups, they never saw Douglas KO Tyson. Maybe they could have applied some of the techniques to their lax discipline. Imma raise my kids right.

Me and my dad always talk about boxing. He always brings up his bets and stuff from back in the 80s. He still wears a gold chain that he won for betting on Duran over Davey Moore He also told me how he lost money on the the SRL vs Duran rematch. It's cool to hear his boxing stories. Other than that I only have 2 other friends that I talk boxing with in real life.

We always have some fun talks about how today's stars would do against the old school greats. I love hearin about some of the shit that was before my time. We were watchin some old fights VHS style tonite. I didn't remember Leonard-Lalonde but somebody suggested that one and we had us a good Sugar Ray debate. Of course we broke out some of the old Tyson fights too. Great talk about what he coulda been if those cunts Givens and Desiree Washington didn't **** him up. A few of my relatives weren't sure on who Marg and Pwill were, and since their feud is a hot boxing topic, I busted out their last couple fights, including their 1st match last July. Great day of eatin, drinkin, and boxing. Everybody's passin out 1 by 1 now, but I'm still watchin some fights while I'm postin on here.

me and my grandad were just talking about boxing...i told him i box amaetur's....he sai he had atape of the hagler-hears fight and hes going to give it to me...... so lucky me!

Well, now you guys know what to be thankful for around the turkey tonight. My parents were major hippies and were against violence, which maybe explains why they got me, the boxing and MMA nut for a kid. Nobody in my family on either side knows anything about boxing aside from a few big names like Ali, Foreman (but more so because of the grills, lol) and Tyson. My grandpa boxed in the Marines and was undefeated in the am's so he was a good conversation, but he died over 10yrs ago so I've basically been alone ever since.

Sometimes randomly I would be very surprised when talking to my brother about boxing(he's like the only one I can to talk to about boxing. He's not really a fan but it's better than nothing) and my mother or father would all of a sudden talk about back in the day when they watched the likes of ALi, Frazier, Liston etc. They would actually share a lot of details. It's times like that when I realise how big boxing used to be. That it made people in a completely diffirent country, get up very early in the morning just to watch the fights.

I really don't know how anyone can't like boxing. I'll watch any two bastards fight. I had Hopkins and Pavlik on the other day and my Uncle popped in, stayed a while and watched the fight and went home angry. Muttering how Hopkins had no class. Boxing will stir an emotional response in anyone. A good thing I think. My nan and grandad were around for the Hatton - Lazcano ppv. I remember grandad calling Mallignaggi a pillock. They enjoyed the fights though, but it's just a shame the younger generation don't get the chance to watch the big fights because of satelite and ppv. I reckon a boxing show should be shown once a week on terrestrial tv.

He can tell you the first ever person to KO Mike Tyson, but if you talk to him about Cotto and Dawson, he will pretend to know who they are but really not have a clue. Although she said '£15 what a waste of money, how embarrassing', She also took one look at Floyd Mayweather and said 'What?? that guy is a boxer he doesn't look like a boxer, he's definetely going to win' Crazy old bags.
