c'mon guys we all know paulie should've been stopped by his corner in the cotto fight.
From what I remember, Paulie fought back with Cotto and it was a real close fight. Hatton fight Paulie was just surviving or had trouble tagging Hatton... In the Cotto fight, there was a chance Paulie might of won persuming he won the last two rounds as he really put up a good performance against him. (tho Cotto was trying to brawl him rather than outbox?) Like I said before Paulie was afraid of Hattons power, almost fell to the canvas twice but grabbed on, but Hatton boxed so beautiful that Paulie couldn't hit him.
most coaches if the fighter doesn't throw punches will throw in the towel as they are concerned for your safety. (I get warned all the time in my fights/spars). So they gotta be active.
True but its only because his corner stopped getting a real beat down. He never looked in the same class as Hatton.

his corner stop the fight.malignaggi was right cotto messed him worse than hatton did.

you're right that hatton boxed paulie better than cotto did but cotto beat the shit out of paulie. hatton roughed him up a little but that stoppage was garbage. buddy mcgirt played paulie bad there. i'll still pay your points cause a tko is a tko, no matter how ridiculous the corner is who initiated it, but don't try and act like hatton put a worse beating on paulie than cotto did.
No ofc he didnt beat him up more but what Hattons aim was to show the boxing world that he could outbox the boxer when hes the brawler. I think thats pretty remarkable in itself since almost nobody gave Hatton a second chance at "boxing ability". And I agree the stoppage was a joke but still a TKO is a TKO offically.
If you watched the fight, Hatton compiled mass pressure (you know pressure is more than constant punching), and when Paulie DID try to hit Hatton, Hatton was either inside Paulie or moving his head or blocking/parrying.

i understand your hatton fan and your excited right now, but lets be realistic. paulie won rounds against cotto because he was fighting, he was not throwing combos or fighting back against hatton. plus cotto not 140 fighter; paulie even said it himself at the end of fight, cotto hurt me more and knocked him down which hatton could not do

Also if PAulie didn't grab on every 5 seconds, then he would of been floored to.
You guys gotta remember, if it went to points, I had Hatton winning every round, maybe losing the first round close. That was outboxing him. Cotto won by like 2 points and that was with a KD.

Wow. Malignaggi was absolutely embarrassed and exposed tonight. While you should give him his due for being A LOT tougher than he looks. It doesn't change the fact that it was proven tonight that he is not a world level competitor, hasn't defeated anybody important and the two times he tried to up his game, he was beaten senseless. You gotta feel for the guy though, in less than an hour he was forced to realize that he isn't nearly as good as he or many fans believed him to be. Smart move by Buddy McGirt however, there was no point in him taking a senseless pounding at that stage in the fight when it was clear he couldn't win because of the wide margin of points and his lack of knockout power. Cotto did exactly what Hatton did to Paulie, just worse. On this night though, McGirt was smart enough to know when enough was enough.
Ricky Hatton on the other hand looked fantastic, I picked him to lose tonight, but it is plainly obvious that Mayweather did a stellar job with him. He was still an offensive force, but also fought a very smart battle that didn't involve too many unnecessary risks. I will definitely give credit where it's due tonight. I still don't think he's a top 10 pound for pound ranking fighter, but he is very good especially with Floyd Sr. to guide him.
lol

AGREE.
not only did Cotto beat the shit out of Paulie, in a fight Paulie showed his heart, but you can't take it away from the fighter who pounded that first.
paulie actually fought back against cotto, and was not touched at the time of stoppage if you guys are proud and gonna tout your horn over that tko, lol

He outboxed Paulie from the distance and he TKOed him.
Now everyone who owes me points, pay up.
cotto didn't outbox paulie... cotto was just too strong. hatton outboxed paulie though for 4 rounds... then paulie turned it into a hug fest.

Hatton never gave Paulie the chance to attack him, and paulie must of feared hattons power more as he was clinching at every opportunity.
its cuz he took a worse beatin against cotto
that they stopped the fighted
had it continued
he might have taken same if not worse
thats why they stopped it
theyve seen it b4
and buddy wasnt gonna let it happen again
he was not going to get hurt worst than in the cotto fight. cotto knocked him down in the first couple rounds and had the socket bone broken in the beggining of the fight.
