You could say that Jones was better then Diaz because even though he won a competitve decision with Hanshaw, that's still better then a close win against an old faded Erik Morales.
You bring up a good point about the Hopkins-Calzaghe fight because I was one of those people who did score it for Hopkins, but you'd have a much easier time in arguing that Marquez should have gotten the nod then Hopkins did imo.
And I took recent as in 2008's resume. That's why.
what you mean knowledgeable boxing fans?

Diaz is was just a typical champion, Jones was a shot Champion. IMO the win is on the same level - with Calzaghe's getting overated. Diaz is one of the lesser names on Pacquiaos resume, Jones is one of the best on Calzaghes..thats saying a lot. Barrera (2), Marquez (2), Morales(3), Solis, Valesquez, Ledwaba..destroys anything Calzaghe brings forth - let alone the fact that Pacquiao destroyed a Prime Barrera. Calzaghe destroyed what? a Prime Lacy? get outta here...
Pacquiao has fought the best of his generation, it could be the best resume of this generation if you factor in the weight classes he's jumped. Calzaghe did not fight the best of his generation, all the possible big name fights never happened untill they were old and past it.
Everything is disputable though Warp. Is the Jones who won a competitve decision over Hanshaw really a better win than Diaz? And if you are going to bring up that ppl had Marquez beating Pac in the second fight you can easily switch it around and say a lot of experts had BHop winning the Calzaghe fight.
By recent resume I was more talking about their last 5 or so fights.
Diaz, Marquez, Barrera, Solis, Morales > Bika, Manfredo, Kessler, Hopkins, Roy
IMO.

Well considering Hopkins and Jones are both better then David Diaz and you'd have a good argument for Marquez beating Pacquiao...
But I think there's clearly a distinction between Pacquiao and Calzaghe, which belongs to Pac. I just like nitpicking things apart such as the words "recent resume" when infact Jones > David Diaz :).

Seriously? I don't see how beating a shell of Jones and winning a disputed decision over a 43 year old BHop bests Pac's recent resume.

I cant pick who is better so its a tie between pacman and calzaghe.

Pac is p4p period, not just lefty.
tru i see alot of people like manny thats cool honestly he is a beast... when he wins should he stay at welterweight??
Calzaghe by far
Pacquioa is good but i think he needs to beat Oscar in order to be considered a top fighter, Calzaghe would beat Oscar handily
Yeah great comparison, Pacman started his career only 60 pounds below Calzaghe

i think calzaghe is great but chad dawson is very tactical and is a good boxer puncher.. but i am not sure what to make of edwin valero sounds great on paper and spars really good? what you guys think?
what makes calzaghe so much better than dawson you think?? and what about calderon and lopez?
I forgot about Pacquiao, It goes Pacquiao, Calzaghe then Dawson.
The difference is Joe has a better resume, more experienced, been Champion alot longer,
