What you all think?
He beat two American legends back to back on the biggest of American stages; Thomas & Mack Center, Las Vegas, NV & Madison Sqaure Garden, NY, NY.
Bernard Hopkins
Roy Jones Jr.
He came back dramatically from two 1st round knock downs to win both fights.
He maintained his undefeated record.
I'm sold on Joe. He's the man.
There were so many good performances this year at the top level.
Margarito with wins over Cintron and P4P Cotto for 147lbs championships.
JMM with his damn near draw with Pac and coming up in weight to defeat Casa for the Lightweight Championship.
Pac with his razor thin win over JMM and going up to take Diaz' 135lbs strap and challenging Oscar at Welter in December.
Joe Calzaghe with his points win over B-Hop and domination of RJJ.
It'll be a tough one this year.
I agree 100%.
It should be Joe, unless Pacquiao KOs De La Hoya.
If Manny beats de Lahoya he will get FOTY, doesn't matter if its a KO or not.
Beating a washed up Jones is a good win but not FOTY material, A lot of good fighters can beat Jones at this point.
Calzaghe would get fighter of the year if this was 1998 instead of 2008 but hey! Why pay attention to detail?
Yea, why pay attention to detail when Roy nor Bernard ever traveled to Europe to face Joe while they were in their primes.
In back to back fights. We all seen what B-Hop can still do. And with last night's result, I think it was more of Calzaghe being that good more so than Jones being that shot.
WHAT PLANET YOU LIVING ON? jones has been shot for 5 years now and he got knocked out cold. glen johnson looked like the greatest of all time wooping his ass. how does calzaghe who almost got knocked out get any credit?
Ofcourse he'll win it unless Pacman beats Oscar.
He MOVED UP in weight to fight both Hopkins and Jones in their backyard and won.

A gift decision against Bernard Hopkins and a completely one sided beatdown of a 5 years past prime Jones hardly makes for a Fighter of the Year candidate.
Antonio Margarito, Juan Manuel Marquez, Israel Vazquez, and Manny Pacquiao (assuming he beats Oscar) are much more worthy of the nod.I watched the fight 3 times, Joe CLEARLY won...2 of 3 judges, and all announcers had Joe winning One stupid Judge, and the haters saw it differently

most definitely
The Hopkins fight was bad performance, but he regained himself against Jones. But beating those two at this point in there careers doesn't mean half as much as it would of had they been younger. Margarito or Marquez are more deserving.
JMM and Margarito would be candidates alongside Calzaghe IMO.

Marquez only beat Casamayor, Margarito is a good shout but they will pick Calzaghe over him.

How the **** was Hopkins a gift? He didnt do anything after round 1! He was struggling to even get through the last 2 rounds hence why he was faking lowblows!
He didnt want to stand with Calzaghe and Joe proved why last night! :boxing:
