I don't understand there are tons of threads around here about P Will can make 147 then he is a WW. He got a belt why wont others fight him? Well the same people are bashing DLH for fighting PAC. Take a look at the stats
Williams 6'2 Reach:82
Berto 5' 8-9 Reach: 72
Clottey 5' 8 Reach: 70
Margarito 5' 11 Reach: 73
Cotto 5'7 Reach: 67
De La Hoya 5 '10-11 Reach: 73
Pacquiao 5'6-7 Reach: 67
If you look at the stats Williams has a 6 inch height advantage in most cases here. Also and more importantly he has a 9 - 15 inch reach adavantage. If you compare DLH to PAC the height advantage is 4 inches and the reach advantage is 7 inches. PAC is very comparable if not almost exactly the same height and reach as COtto. So why all the sh@t abotut FLH and not hearing any S3it about Williams? I don't understand why more people aren't saying the same about Williams.....Lefty
15 pounds in HW there are sometimes 30-70 pound differences.....15 LBS PACMAN is P4P best fighter right as per Ring Magazine. Pretty Boy May was a 135 LB Champ and when he fought Oscar it was his first time at 154 If I remember correctly I think he came into the fight at 150.....Lefty
Mayweather left 135 in 2003. He was a welterweight champ when he moved up one weight class to fight De La Hoya.
The gap in size was smaller than this fight, and even then, you could see the noticable size difference.
You can use statistics to prove anything thats even remotely true. . .
its not all about height and reach its about muscle bulk and bone density as well, pacman will look totally dwarfed come fight time, and oscar will not be weight drained at all. I'd imagine paul has some problems making 47, so thats the smaller WWs advantage isnt it?
Simple.
Because before the Kolle fight, Williams was fighting at the weight class of 147 and had been there for awhile.
Williams didn't fight 3 straight guys moving up in weight (Forbes was only 150 for the TV show and he went back down to the 140 range after it ended) like DLH has.
I don't think much of the fact that Pacquiao started at 106 or whatever. That was many years ago, much like DLH fighting two times @ 130. What is more telling is that Pacquiao has been at least 4 divisions below DLH in much more recent years, except for their last fights when they were "merely" 15 lbs. apart.

as much as pwill being in the welter division is a size advantage just like dlh fighting pacqiuao, those are 2 very different situations.
pwill is at the beginning stages of his career and it is expected that after he cleans out the welter division, he is going to move up and take over the lmw, mw, smw, lhw divisons.
dlh on the other hand, is at the end of his career, and he should be fighting better competition since this might be his last fight or atleast one of his last fights. I defend pwill fighting at ww right now IF and only IF he is gonna move up to take the other divisions. and I do believe if he does move up and then in a couple of years moves back down to ww, everyone will be making a bigger deal out of that than they are on dlh right now.
if you can make weight the it shouldn't really matter...
the difference with pacman dlh is that he's (pac) jumping weight classes.. he isn't natural at that weight.
listen man, as long as you can make the weight at the weigh-in its fair. if u have a complaint about sum1 sucking weight to be in a lower class its pointless. cuz if it mattered THAT much all fighters would suck weight like paul williams
Manny started at 106. ODLH has been as high as 160. Do the ****ing math....
when de la hoya was 16(the age in which manny was at 106), he was a bantam......you guys make waaay too much out of size....especially when manny weighed in at welter for junior lightweight fights.....i mean yeah its a big advantage for dlh, but nowhere near ****ing unheard of....
just like to point out the margarito/cotto to de la hoya/pacquiao fights are the same difference in height and reach..both margarito and oscar are about 5'11 with a 73inch reach and cotto and pacquiao are both 5'6-5'7 with a 67 inch reach..so whats the difference here? pacquiao naturally walks around at about 155 so did cotto..so why was that fight not ridiculed like the de la hoya vs pacquiao fight? the only thing pacquiao is lacking at this point is he hasnt fought at welterweight yet, but just because he drains himself to make 130 and 135 doesnt necessarily mean thats the weight class he naturally falls under
I would also accept the fight if dlh/pac was at a catchweight of 140.
if williams can make the weight then he should get the fights.
I willmake a bet with you sir I take 5k that DLH can't KO PACMAN.....Let me know if you want to sig it sir.....Lefty
If Oscar went down to LW there would be no problem

I'd like to see PW move up to MW and take on Felix Sturm (5' 11'' 1/2) first off. That should be a little teaser tester of what can be expected of him as Sturm can hold his own while not being the divisions elite. THEN, if he makes a big splash and after Pav (6' 2'' 1/2) handles AA (5' 10'')- let them two bang it out. I highly doubt after that fight, anyone will be talking up Paul Williams anymore. Basically, other than thinking he's overrated, I think he belongs at least at MW/SMW possibly even LHW pending on the weight carry over. As I said though, he won't make it out of the MW division.
I'm not really a Williams fan. I like 99% of boxers, but he isn't one of my favourites. Someone isn't a nuthugger just because they disagree with you.
Who cares if Pac chose to move up in weight? That doesn't make it a fair fight. Calderon would fight a middleweight if you offered him enough money.
Williams has a height advantage over Clottey and Margarito, but they have advantages over him too. It all evens out, which is why the divisions are based upon weight rather than height or reach.
SIr I never called oyu a nut hugger so for that I apologize if you took my comment personally. I do like Williams but him crying about getting fights at 147 and calling other boxers girl scouts for not wanting to fight him are old and tired. I think he has a tremendous advantage in reach. Cotto has 67 and he has an 82 reach which menas he has more then a foot of reach over the guy. It would be like a WW fighting a MW or even better a heavy weight....Lefty

The only thing that matters in boxing is weight. When they start having "height-in's" then you'll have a case.
Cotto is a guy that couldn't make 140 withought serious weight-drain problems.
Pacquiao is a guy that has never fought as high as 140.
If they are the same height and reach, that goes to show how statistics like that can be misleading is judging a fighter's size.
I think this is a bad statement and I will tell you why. PACMAN chose to move up to 147 because it is the most money he is going to get for a fight right now. If Williams can't get fights at 147 or can't get big fights at 147 then maybe he needs to stop crying and move up in weight too. I see the stats as being very real and a good judgement of how big a fighter realy is. If I am fighting a guy at 147 that is 6'2 and can hit me from the other side of the ring then how in the world can I get close enough to land a blow. Better yet I am constantly swinging upwards which takes alot of all my punches. 3 to 4 inches in height is a great advantage now we are talking 6 to 8 inches n height. That is ridiculous. 4 tio 6 inches is a big reach advantage now we are talking 6 to 12 inches that is also ridiculous. Come on you Williams nut hugger stop crying and get real......Lefty

Exactly. I have a friend who is the same height as me, maybe a little taller. Yet I outweigh him by a huge margin. Am I a fat cunt? No.
It's he is thin and I am bigger built.
I love you Clegg :luvbed:
