It isnt stupid because he picked Toney to win, but rather the logic he used in picking Toney to win seemed very very weak.. It was very weak, even for a triangle theory.
Yeah your right.
Roy gives his retarded opinion on Toney vs The Klitschkos
Roy is cool and all, But there is a reason why he is not with HBO anymore. He doesn't have good intellectual skills, And for making bold statements like this one. Either Klitschko makes a mockery of Toney.
but Jones does what he does best, runs his mouth and avoids getting his ass beat. In his so called prime years 95-2003 have people forgotten that Roy was hand picking guys like Frazier a part timer, and faded champs like McCallum when the real challenge was Dariuz. Only after Michalczweski lost did Roy conveniently start saying he was never a threat.
Jones preferred the no hopers over a true contender.
Anyone who can beat both Toney and Hopkins when both were in their primes is a very special fighter and that in itself says a lot with just those two names. You only need to bring up those two wins of Jones' to show that he didn't avoid the toughest fights out there because those two were shown to be two of the best fighters of the last fifty years. It's ridiculous to think Jones would fight those guys but avoid Darius. Darius would have lost to both Toney and Hopkins.
Klitschkos along with Lewis where/are the first big men to actually fight, and have skills, not freak shows who only fought/fight thanks to their size. Like Carnera and Valuev.
That is partly true but Willard had a style very much like Wlad and Vitali.
Why do white fighters like Kelly Pavlik, Vitali Klitschko, and so on these board get hated on? Those fighters are talented and would give hell to anyone in other eras. Though if Marvin Hagler had fought Pavlik, I would have favored Hagler but that doesn't change the fact that some of you seem to hate white fighters on here...
People on here need to stop looking at fucking skin color for god sakes, welcome to the year 2008... Assholes
Pavlik would give hell to any fighter in middleweight history would he? I can think of a bunch of middleweights of the last 20 or 30 years that would beat him pretty easy. Klitschko would give most problems simply because of his size but he would still not give hell to the better heavies....and it has nothing to do with skin color or any of that BS!
I like Roy, I really do, but damn he's stupid sometimes. It's a good thing he doesn't have to be able to speak proper english or form coherent sentences to do his job in the ring.
Roy gives his retarded opinion on Toney vs The Klitschkos
obviously roy is saying that because rjj beat toney and by the transitive property if toney > the klits, and rjj > toney, then rjj > the klits.... of course boxing doesn't work that way.
Bowe wasnt just a freak show, he could fight. But you're right, back in the day you didnt see really big, good fighters. Even in Tysons day the average HW was around 210-212.
Yeah, Bowe had a great skillset, and plenty of power and handspeed to go with it. He really was just a fantastic heavyweight, but unfortunately he didn't quite live up to his potential.

Indeed, Im not taking anything away from Bowe. BUt he was one in a million. (again dont take it litteraly)
Lennox kind of made it a requirement to be (im just throwing a number here) 6foot 5 240lb.
Im one of those firm believers that if Lennox was not 6foot5, but 5'11" the Stewart style of jab followed by a straight hand would not work against someone like Tyson. Then again, I do not believe that a man over 6'4" can move like Ali or bob and weave like Tyson, personally I think that the bigger you are, the more limited you become in respect to the kind of fighting style you can adapt to.
I really do believe that the style of jab straight right is the winning style for heavyweights from now and on to the future.
We all hate to admit it, but you can be 6'1" and talented as hell, weighing 215lb, but the bottom line is that if the man on the other side of the ring perfectly executes a jab, its going to be tough to score points.
Possesing a jab which would knock out guys in lower weight divisions, and using it properly is nearly impossible to get around.
Your comment about the Klitschkos being much bigger than previous fighters is also incorrect Bowe was 6ft 5in Lewis was 6ft 5in Carnera was around 6ft 6 and Willard was also around 6ft 6in.
And no properly trained pro heavyweight is gonna get beat up by some juiced up door men.

Who said a pro heavyweight will get beat by some bouncer? I just provided a common example of where size alone will be sufficient enough to win a fight.
Secondly dont take my post the wrong way. Roy is a very talented guy, that when he weighs enough could beat quite a few heavyweights. But we are talking about Elite Vs Elite here. Roy Jones in an elite fighter, so is Wlad. They are elite at very different weights. Now I dont see how Roy could beat Wlad, naturaly weighing what? 50lb less then him.
And Toney is just fat. In order for him to be a heavy withouht fat he would have to bulk up and look like one of those body builders, and that built wont let him do shit with his fists.
P.S I hate fucking bouncers, they are power trippin pussies...never seen a bouncer fight one on one, its always a pack of em beating on a man half their size.
When will people learn that there are weight divisions for a reason.
Im sorry to put it this way, but 85% of the time the man that is much bigger then his opponent (natural weight) is going to win the fight.
Toney is not a heavy, neither is Roy.
Klitschkos arent just natural heavy's, they are the NEXT GENERATION of heavies. Much bigger then anyone else in the past.
People talk of chins.....shit china chin men these days prolly wouldnt look that bad getting punched by 5-11, 6-foot guys from back in the day.
Live with it.
I'm 6'1 210lb..........I know there are a bunch of bouncers at the club who are 6'4" 260lb (on juice or not) that will simply overpower me, regardles of the fact that I used to train and all he does is roids and bench press.
I dont see how height is automatically going to give you punching power, Valuev is so tall he cant get anything on his punches, Tyson, Frazier, Dempsey and Liston were all under 6ft 1in and were massive punchers that have enough power to knock out Wlad.
There are weight classes for a reason but there are many fighters who were not natural heavyweights or below 200lb that have had some success examples include Byrd, Chambers, Spinks, JCG, Holyfield, Bert Cooper, Moorer, RJJ, Toney, Quarry, Patterson, Charles, Moore, Louis etc etc etc. Even Langford who was tiny for a heavyweight was able to compete against the big boys.

Roy picked heavyweight version of Toney to beat Vitali... Whats roy smoking?
Exactly, the same Vitali that would've been Roy's mandatory. Everyone knows Roy didn't want any part of Vit or Lennox.
Alright burning myself at the stake here.
Toney is a bad match up for these guys. I think Vitali would most likely KO Toney if he can hit him, but do you think he could hit him? Both these guys are very big and slow(in comparison). Vitali and Wlad are very good at fighting tall. If Toney got inside(which I believe he could, not would), he would win. Toney is one of the best inside fighters of all time. If he gets inside, he wins.
Toney could make Vitali and Wlad miss, if he slipped punches right he could find himself on the inside landing some damage. In a inside firefight he obviously wins against the slower men, who don't have the best selection of hooks and upper cuts.
Vitali wins, Wlad loses imo. Vitali fought more intelligently and patiently even though he was less skilled.
Just plain ridiculous, Toney can't compete with the top guys anymore.
Well, Roy beat Toney and already fought at HW, so why won't he fight the Klitchkos? I'm sure both brothers would be all for that.
Roy said that three year ago

when toney was a middle weight he would of beat the shit out of wlad... he was killing riddick bowe so bad in a sparring session rock newman had to jump in and save him.. vitali is a different kind of animal though...
