Early KO win for Tyson.
Roy used to try to keep his fights at a slow pace and his opponents gave him a lot of breathing room and time to ambush them and strike. Tyson wouldn't allow that in his prime. I also don't think Roy would withstand many punches from Tyson...Maybe one clean punch would put Roy out cold, even in Roy's prime.
I think everyone is basing this off of Roys post heavyweight chin. We're talking prime for prime here. I don't know that anyone runs through Jones punches that easy and lays him down. Tyson was great but he did struggle with guys in spots and got frustrated easy. I don't know that i see him missing too many punches without it letting mess with him. Not saying Jones wins, but its definitely not the slaughter you guys are envisioning.
If the fight goes past the 6th round, its all for Jones. I can't see how people think Tyson could keep his composure against Jones for 6-12 rounds. Tyson would absolutely pmmel him, and it would be inside 5 rounds. Other than that, it would look like a bull chasing the matador.
Tyson by K.O in the 7th or 8th. One shot that finally catches Roy after being ptshotted all night. I see alot of holding and inside body work from Tyson with alot foot work and jabs from Roy. But tYson til he end mang.
Before I give my answer, understand that Roy Jones, Jr. is one of my favorite fighters in my lifetime.
With that said, I truly feel that Mike Tyson would make sure that Jones never makes the final bell. Yes, Roy Jones, Jr. was very quick in his prime, but Tyson wasn't bad himself. Despite Roy's speed, he would not be able to avoid EVERYTHING that Tyson throws. Roy can run, but he can't hide..... forever. Though Jones got knocked out late in his career, I think his chin would still be a weakness even in his prime. Lets not forget that Jones would be taking punches from a very dangerous heavyweight and he was knockout by light heavyweights. It would only take one vicious shot from Tyson to end the night. Also, Tyson was frustrated by those bigger, stronger and knew how to work their jabs. Jones doesn't possess that size advantage and he doesn't use the jab enough, which would make walking down Jones easy for Tyson.
Yeah I question if Roy could take that kind of power, ecspecially if he caught him clean on the chin. I think Roy would have a chance though with this speed and quickness.
