Im going to watch Jones Tarver again for about the 3476 time. Give some of you guys my insight into how I score a fight personally speaking. Round by round, give some reasons y I scored it for whomever etc. Lemme know your thoughts on my scoring, also lemme know your thoughts about the fight itself....
PS This fight will be scored on mute by me as well. As I will normally do after watching it live and watching it a few times over and over again.:boxing:
its been a while but my dad and me watched that fight and we both thought Tarver won but i never again watched it. usually i score fights better the 2nd time i watch them because the day of the fight im a little too into it. so who knows maybe jones did win the fight. it was a solid fight!
Nice job. From memory I scored it 115-113 Roy but I think there was one particular round that was line ball. To be honest I don't watch the Tarver fights too much.
IO made this thread, to show you guys how I score a fight, round by round. This is the best way to do it IMO. Always jot down a few notes, on things to watch for, why the fighter won the round, and what needs to happen. It's the simpliest way for me to really score a fight.
Watch the fight, DONT" LISTEN. By writing dowsn a few notes, you can always go back and compare and contrast after scoring the fight again.
Thanks for the time and reading guys!!
Tarver had Jones on the ropes with about 2 mins left, and really hammered Jones again with his straight left hand. Only problem is he let Jones off the hook. Jones looked exhausted and tired, hurt, and Tarver didn't pressure him. Jones sucked it up and landed more of those accurate potshots in the middle of the ring to close out the final 2 mins. Jones got the job done, pulling away with 2 big rounds to end the fight.
10-9 Jones
116-112 Roy Jones Jr.
I scored it 122-109 for Tarver. I dunno what fight you were watching..

Jones attacked Antonio Tarver the entire round en route to winning this round handily. He was able to keep Tarver off balance and land some solid shots. Tarver had no answers as we seen a dominating round by Jones with his right hand leads and using his left hook to keep Tarver off balance.
10-9 Jones
106-103 Jones
Big Tarver round. The straight left was apparent and found for him. He landed a very big one early in the round which might have even hurt Roy. He forced him back against the ropes, and ripped Jones with solid combinations. Jones seemed to get his feet back under him, only to be placed back against the ropes in the last 20 secs, with Tarver ripping big shots through his guard. Big Tarver round as he needed it.
10-9 Tarver
96-94 Jones
Ledeman had it right on the $.
1 Tarver
2 Tarver
3-7 Jones
8 Tarver
9 Jones
10 Tarver
11-12 Jones
Jones UD 116-112. This was Tarver's best night and Roy's worst night and Tarver still couldn't get the job done. Roy was dead tired from the 6th rd on, layin on the ropes, throwin 1 shot at a time, basically lookin for an excuse to lose and Tarver couldn't deliver. Had to give him the rds where Roy stood on the ropes and let Tarver pound the shit out of him, but it didn't happen enough for him to get the decision. LMAO at the cats who say Tarver got "robbed" in that fight. He had Roy in his grasp and let him slip.
Jones potshotted Tarver the entire round. He landed solid clean effective shots. He was in fact placed on the ropes in the last 45 secs, only to see a Tarver flurry not do enough to steal the round for Antonio Tarver. If ever punch output could play a huge role into a fight, it's now Tarver NEEDS to let emm go in order to win rounds.
10-9 Jones
87-84 Jones
I thought Jones won the fight, Tarver did have very good moments when Jones was on the ropes but there weren't enough of them, Jones pulled ahead in the last 2 rounds for me.
Great round for Antonio Tarver and he needed it. Jones continues to shrug off Tarver's work while laying on the ropes like its nothing, but when he has Jones there, he lands. He did this throughout the round, really turning it up towards the last 45 secs. of the round. He's landing that straight left hand directly through Jones guard with certain ease. Solid Tarver round.
10-9 Tarver
77-75 Jones
More of the same, right hand to the body, straight right lead to the head. Antonio Tarver needs to press the action, let his hands go, and get Jones out of hi comfort zone. Jones is being allowed to stay in the center of the ring and potshot his way through round after round.
10-9 Jones
68-65 Jones
As long as Jones can keep this fight in the center of the ring, he has no problems. Tarver once again wasn't doing enough. Jones is really landing that right hand to the body, and now it's opening some different looks upstairs. He was able to land a quick left right combo with about 1 min left. Tarver pinned Jones once again, but his flurry, which landed some punches, was not able to over take the work Jones did.
10-9 Jones
58-56 Jones
Definition of a RJJR round. He started with a straight right, left hook to the body 45 secs in, and didnt look back. Antonio Tarver looked tenative the entire round. He had a couple of chances to press Jones and decided for whatever reason not too. Jones is touching Tarver's body with his right hand as much as possible. Lead right landed for Jones in the final 10 secs as well.
10-9 Jones
48-47 Jones
the Tarver v Jones fight is based more on the fact that Tarver made the fght competitive rather than actually won it a bit like Castillo v PBF people overeact and claim it to be something its not a robbery same goes for Hagler v Leonard imo
see da problem was ppl were used to Jones being so dominate and flashy that for the first time he wasnt everyone though he lost. Lets face it Jones was never the same after that weight-drain 25lbs lol yea im sorry but its only the human body
BBC had Tarver getting Robbed i dont know what fight they were watching
then again i did not think Mike Watson was robbed against Eubank 1st time around Watson did nothing for 5 rounds but people always get a distorted opinion when a fighter finishes strongly with the momentum of the fight going his way IE Hopkins v Taylor 1 ,Quartey v Dela Hoya
