Sure it's bad ass to jump up two weight classes. But come on. Does anyone give him a legitimate shot at beating Oscar?
Just look at what being the much bigger man does for you. Oscar can basically walk through Pacquiao and knock him out. It still took Pac 9 rounds to get Diaz out. You can tell that his power dropped off somewhat. So do you think he;ll be able to hurt Oscar at 147?
To me it's just Pacquiao trying to cash out, just as much as Oscar is.
P.S. I'm still going to watch it.
um floyd jr wanted to fight oscar for 50 million dollars in a rematch. A rematch no one wanted to see now that is a mufucka who fights for the money only and not to please the fans.
pacman said even if he gets knocked out which is likely he will give his all against oscar and to please the fans with fireworks.
Oscar and pacman never fought...and wtf at you saying only for the money?
if I was a little tiny fighter going up in weight to make a mega fight ill damn well ask for the 20 million or something sufficient because its a huge fucking riisk why not get paid well if you gonna get knocked the fuck out?
You just proved my point. And what does Mayweather have to do with this?
If you know you have no shot at winning why take the fight? Why? Oh because I'm going to get 15 million for it. I'm fine with taking the money trust me I would do it too. But don't try and pass off Manny as some saint. He's a great fighter but this fight is for the money point blank.
you have no logic!
because first off so when Duran knocked out barkley, barkley was a shot fighter?
cause duran was a lightweight before?
And 2nd OSCAR is not SHOT! learn the meaning of Shot fighter.
Shot fighter is Gatti, or someone who has been in too many wars like that fool who kermit cintron couldnt knockout feliciano.
Oscar has never been in those type of battles he rarely gets hit clean on the chin.
you are just discrediting pacquiao.
So basically david diaz was a shot fighter when pacman knocked him out cold?
I got Oscar winning but I certainly wouldnt be like you and discredit pacquaio if he pulls the upset.
heck ill be shocked/
for you I bet you will not even be impressed you would already hate and say eh oscar was shot already.
I am not discrediting pacman if he knocks out de la hoya, pacman deserves credit just for even considering a beatdown like this, i am discrediting oscar for all of this, not one time did i say pac is somehow guilty of anything HOWEVER:
If pac manages to consistently hurt or put down de la hoya, i am not going to sit here and say hes some how:
1. In his prime
2. At his past
3. Getting hurt by natural super featherweights/lightweights is something thats always happened to him
The only way i could see myself saying de la hoya ISNT shot, is if pacman campaigned at welterweight/jr welter and was knocking people out at will, because again, De La Hoya has ALWAYS showed a strong chin, and a big improvement from his defensive lapses that he used to have early in his career.
Again, I DO NOT THINK OSCAR IS SHOT, however if someone like Pacman manages to drop him or hurt him, i will think hes shot at this point, if hes not shot, then way fucking past his prime.
As far as Barkley Duran, as someone pointed out, Duran was older and moving up against a younger champion, not to mention, Duran stayed at middleweight for the rest of his boxing days, also, were talking about Roberto Duran a top 5 p4p fighter period, the upset against barkley was unexpected and huge, but historically he stayed at that weight another 10 years, pac would have to do the exact same thing. WE KNEW Barkley wasnt shot because he was much younger than Duran, this isnt the case with De La Hoya, hes older than pacman and hes the mainstay at welter/jr middle.
no I get it its typical Mexi fan bias bullshit.
funny how they always worry about who pacquiao fights but then they want Margarito to fight oscar? lol
wow and they never get mad if margarito fights golden johnson and knocks him out, or mijares fighting pacquiaos left overs in saskual who is 40 years old.
But then they say those are tune up fights or stay busy fights.
but yet pacmans stay busy and tune up fights are soto and valero? and then they wanted to boycott that fight too lol
Wow just wow is all I can say they never give pacman credit.
soto and valero were the guys are dangerous.
10 years from now, when Pac is gone, Mexicans boxers winning over Filipinos, and no Pinoys are gone here in the forum, they will still hate on Pac.
Haters will be haters.
pac shouldn't catch any heat because he's moving up in weight to fight a much bigger opponent. you got to respect his courage no matter how foolhardy it is.
dlh catches all the heat because there is a better option for him to fight (ie. margarito).
I think he should be guilty for this fight as well. He's only doing it for money. That's why he was asking for 20 million.
So if Pacquiao hurts Oscar that means Oscar is shot?
lol so you are discrediting pacquiao if he happens to pull off an upset?
Wow no one has ever been able to knock oscar out in the chin EVER!
Floyd jr couldnt even hurt him, or tito!
But if a smaller man in pacquiao was able to some how drop oscar or tko him oscar is shot?
First of Oscar is not shot, did you watch his fight with forbes? he looked real good he was throwing combos but he couldnt land them cause forbes was a protype of floyd jr but not the same exact but similar.
Oscar didnt look shot to me.
And to be honest If pacman did even wobble oscar I would piss my paints in disbelieve I would discredit the guy and say eh oscar was shot.
Don't you know already, When Pac beats his opponents, they are shot already.
Sure it's bad ass to jump up two weight classes. But come on. Does anyone give him a legitimate shot at beating Oscar?

I dont mean to intrude on your argument but I just wanted to point out that the situation in Duran-Barkley was the reverse. Duran was actually the older fighter at 38 who was moving up in weight to face a much younger champion Barkley.

AGAIN:
Pacman is not a bigger puncher than Vargas, Mayorga, Hopkins, or Trinidad. With the exception of Hopkins, he wasnt stopped by any of those individuals who were known for their power at WELTERWEIGHT AND JR MIDDLEWEIGHT, if Pacman happens to hurt Oscar or knock him out, it would have everything to do with Oscar being shot by being knocked out by a guy whos best weight was really 126.
I think Oscar is somewhat past his prime, at this point i dont think hes shot, however, if he gets knocked out by Pacman or somehow starts respecting his power, then yes, he is shot. This is the same guy who has shown an iron chin with improved defense from early in his career, if he gets hurt by that guy i have no reason to think that somehow hes not shot, im sorry, thats just how i feel, i have been watching oscar his entire career, from Ruelas, Tito, Hopkins to Mayweather.
If Pacman hurts Oscar, all it means is Pac's power is something legendary. Oscar ain't shot at this point of his career even if he got hurt by a Pacquiao punch.
That means if oscar continues his habit of abandoning his jab then i'll have at least 4x as much xmas shopping money come dec 7th.:You_Rock_
The fight wont last long enough for him to do that, itll be over before round 8.
Size disparity aside, Oscar's jab is enough to beat Pac from a tactical standpoint. Pac's chance of knocking out Oscar is pretty much close to none, and his power should have little to no effect. Speed and footwork is the only thing going for him but as I said, DLH's jab will pretty much keep that in check. Barring a Picasso of a perfromance, I don't give Pac much of a chance in this one and would put Oscar as a 4:1 favorite at least.

Oscar is not shot lol
He has never been in Any wars...shot is when you been in too many tough fights.
Oscar might be a bit slower but he is far from shot.
past his prime maybe but not shot.
I just want Oscar to finally retire at least this time he will be retired for good because Pacquiao is a sure ko and big victory for him to retire on.
Why dont you read what i said, i said "IF PACMAN HURTS OSCAR, THEN HE IS SHOT TO ALL HELL"
Domain, i know reading and comprehension tend to be issues for you, but reread my post, contact your last English teacher, do 2 vocab assignments, then post.
here is the assignment, analyze this statement here
Pac does not hit harder than Tito, Hopkins, Vargas, or Mayorga, if Pac hurts oscar at this point it means hes shot to all hell. In his prime he was taking on some of the most powerful punchers at welterweight and wasnt stopped a single time.

I agree somewhat about the left hand. When I was watching the fight I told my brother as soon as he lands consistently with the left hand Diaz will go down. And he did that in the 9th. But think about the discrepancy come fight night. Oscar will probably be at least 155-159 pounds.
I know fighters are smart. Pacquiao knows he can not knock out Oscar. His only chance is to box and move. And although he has the ability he doesn't like to fight like that.
Part of what makes Manny so special is because he's a bad ass in there. And it won't change he will duke it out with Oscar and get put to bed.
I still give him a small chance to knock out oscar. But 4 sure he'll have enough power to keep oscar from walking him down all night like he had hoped. Pac should be more worried about oscar's jab than anything else. those jabs'll hurt more than the left hook 4 sure.
See than that is an actual problem. That's why both guys would be guilty for making this fight.
Its a lose lose situation for Oscar.
If he knocks Pac out he was picking on a smaller man.
If he loses that would be a Major embarrassment.
Well, it's a measured risk by pac's team. I think they've determined that it's a win/win situation for the most part. The fight will give Pac plenty of exposure and the buildup may make him a household name in the US.
If DLH were to win the fight, I dont think anyone would think any less of Pac as a fighter. He would also have sacks of cash to help console him. As I said before, I think Pac's team is going for the hail mary play. They're hoping oldman DLH will be a shell of his former self in the ring and a win over DLH would do alot to boost his resume. So all things considered, it's a preferable fight for Manny than facing the dangerous Soto or Valero because losing to them would certainly knock Manny down a few pegs in people's eyes.
Oscar may carry Pacquiao and choose not to drop him with power shots because it would make the fight look more competitive. I doubt Oscar blows Pacquiao out of the ring.
If he did it would just make Oscar look worse and he would never stop hearing it from he fans.
See than that is an actual problem. That's why both guys would be guilty for making this fight.
I give Pac a helluva chance to beat delafishnets.
Sure it took him 9 to get rid of diaz but the guy didnt throw half the amount of left straights he normally does so he can be confident in his right 4 a fight like this. Diaz weighed 146 on fighnight as opposed to 139 when he fought morales and still got knocked out. Thats only 1lb from the welter catchweight. with a little added weight Pac's power will still be there

Pac didint like those Marquez countershots, those straight left jabs and left hooks will likely end the fight in 6 or less, De La Hoya has problems with guys like Whitaker, Mayweather and Mosley as well as Hopkins, a guy like Pac is taylor made for Oscar, anyone who ever stood in front of Oscar with little to no regard for defense ended up on their ass, and the same would happen to pacman.
