1st I want to ask did Zab get another trainer to help in this camp? I know people were saying it a few months ago but I havent heard it lately. Will it still just be Yoel?
When I think about a Zab-Margarito fight, Im 50/50. Part of me thinks that Margarito will eventually kill him because Zab isnt big at WW, he easily loses focus, and you just cant trust him. With that being said, he is as talented as anyone in the game, he's southpaw, and he's mad quick. I think styles make fights and I could see Zab being a hard matchup. Margarito is super super super slow while Zab is super fast. I could see him catching Margarito alot with that speed and Southpaw style. You look at the troubles Margarito had with Cotto & Clottey's quick hands and Santos southpaw style.
Zab isnt a huge puncher at WW but he's still explosive and Santos hurt Margarito a couple of times in that lefty stance. Im actually really surprise that Cotto didnt use that more since he's solid at it. I know that people will say that Baldy walked through Zab but that was still a close fight, Zab clearly underestimated him, and I think a prime Baldy has a even better chin the Margarito with more overall boxing skill. He doesnt have the punch output of Margarito and the relentless style though. None of this probably matters as Clottey could easily beat Zab this weekend but I wouldnt mind seeing either of those guys against Margarito if he dodges the Williams fight.
yes he would and more than ppl would think. what do santos, williams and judah have in common? they're southpaws and margarito has trouble with sp's. judah only lacks heart so even if he is beating on margarito for the first couple of rounds, he'll lose focus in the second half of the fight and lose. if he could maintain his pace and focus, he could beat margarito but he won't so he would lose.
Judah's #1 weakness is pressure and activity. I like Zab, but with a KO out of the question he would get brutally beaten down till Yoel, the ref, or he had enough, of seeing (or feeling) a ton of punches dig into his face and body.
Jesus Christ no...
Margarito can take Zab's shots. Early knockout for Zab is out of the question.
Zab can kick anyone's ass in the middle of the ring if they are trying to box and pick their shots, but Margarito doesn't do that. High speed chess match decision victory for Zab is not in the cards.
What kind of opponents has Zab Judah been beaten by?
Kostya Tszyu, which actually didn't say a lot about Zab, just that he couldn't take a right hand from Tszyu, which most people can't.
Cory Spinks, which was a real close fight that a lot of people think went the wrong way, and Judah avenged it in a rematch.
Baldomir, Mayweather and Cotto ALL lost the early rounds until they started coming forward, which Zab seems to have extreme trouble fighting against. Seriously, the trick to beating Judah is pressuring him and making him go backwards, because he just seems incapable of fighting effectively if he is being pressured.
What does Margarito do 100% of the time? Come forward. Judah gets knocked out in this one, 100% guaranteed. And there is never a fight that I feel is a 100% guarantee, but, seriously, this one is it. No fucking way in hell that Judah can or will win this one.
Good post, DWiens. Judah would be a 20-1 underdog in this fight. I used to think he had a chance, but Margarito just walked through punches from two of the hardest hitters in the division. Judah has no chance at all. He'll wilt. Probably within 6.
anybody with fast hands can beat Margarito. Clottey was completely exposing him for four rounds. I'd expect Judah to do it for 4-5 rounds and gold as usual. I'd pick Clottey in a rematch and don't expect Margarito to fight him or Williams, who both were clearly beating him or did beat him
zab will give any one trouble for the first few rounds..but margarito will run him over sooner or later
Yeah I agree on this one.Zab is one of my favs but Marg would beat him in the late rounds.
QUESTION:
How come I never heard anybody call Zab a "four round fighter" until Floyd said it? Floyd called him a "front-runner".
You fuckaz are such bandwaggoners. Zab didn't have that rep until Floyd dissed him post-fight.
In what round did he damage Cory? Remind me.
Why are you quoting me? I never said any of those things...
yeah man but margarito has momentum
hes coming off a big win
that kind of stuff do affect a match
id pick margarito and im sure clottey will be the underdog at betting sites if the fights take place
If Clottey beats Judah like most everyone is picking, then hed have some momentum as well. No doubt hed be the underdog because Margaritos win was a much higher profile fight over an undefeated guy.
margarito would defeat clottey again
but lets be honest zab is a bigger name
Zab is an opponent at this point. He's in this position because he has fought on tv a lot, not because he's earned this position. If Clottey wins, then Margarito would have to go through him for unification. Clottey gave Margarito a lot of problems the first time around and I think he's gotten even better since then.
Zab will do well in the beginning but I can see Margarito walk him down, and the fact that Zab fades and Margarito strengthens in the later rounds means Zab is done past the 5th.. Zab got pressured by Cotto who doesn't throw as much as Margarito, so I can see him give in to the accumulation.
