It was clear that the nose injury was a bad one. He had to basically breathe out of his mouth for a lot of the fight. He seemed to slow down substantially after the 6th round. Would the outcome have been the same if he had his stamina????
The nose certainly didn't help, but like Antonio said it was caused by a Margarito punch. Just like When Marco Antonio Barrera caught Morales with a nice uppercut in their third fight and broke his big ass beak. It was a distraction and didn't help his breathing, but it happened because the opponent made it happen.
A factor, as Cotto ran out of gas. Cotto was too tired to "hit, land and run". Margarito slowly hunt him down. But if Cotto had better stamina, Margarito would had not landed as many punches as he did after the 6th round. It's not only the breating difficulty, but the loss of hemoglobulin. (which carries OXIGEN to the all the organ tissues.) He was weaken faster than expected. Add to it, Cotto's lack of body work on Tony... a fresh Margarito and a weaken Cotto for the last 2 rounds. UPSET IN THE MAKING.

Margarito beat the stamina out of him. It has very little to do with the nose.
It's sick that Cotto landed that leaping shot in your sig and it had no effect on Tony. Christ that guy has a set of whiskers.
That was one of Miguel's most hardest and risk-taking punches in the fight. He could've been knocked off balance. 2nd round I think. That was brutal. Marg wanted this badly.
It made an impact yeah. But at the end of the day it was caused by a Margarito punch.
