I took an educated guess and went with Margarito on points. In no way did I see Cotto winning here. I projected him boxing and staying away from trading as we saw, but I thought he would be on his bike even more than he was so he could make it through 12, but with Antonio getting the dec because his offense wouldn't be enough. Basically, I gave Cotto more credit than he put up.
I thought Cotto would win, but I was rooting for Margarito. And, honestly, though I saw Cotto slowing down, I didn't know who was going to win until a little while before it happened.
Uber-competitive, uber-exciting. :boxing:
o is that all he had to do? obviously you have never been in a ring before. you know how tired he was from all that movement/pressure..? no. obviously not....
yeah, I admit he was tired because he was hurt in the 6th. He made the mistake of standing there.
You mean the rounds or the prediction of the fight? If its the rounds i had it a draw going into the 11th round....And i had margarito a slight favourite going into the fight.
Margarito was up by 1-2 rounds in my opinion. Cotto just kept getting hurt and couldn't take the pain/pressure. What Cotto did is clearly running NOT BOXING. What kind of boxer would move away from his opponent without throwing a jab.
Yeah I thought Cotto was a couple of rounds up early. Margarito winning round 2 of course. But by the time we got to round 10 I thought Tony had probably nudged ahead. I thought round 2 was the defining round of the fight for me. Margarito landed a brutal body shot that took the wind out of Cotto's sails for a while.
Cotto then had to protect the body more and Tony knew right then and there that he hurt Cotto. His smile at the end of the round said it all. The round 2 body punch threw doubt in Miguel's mind and built confidence in Tony.
Cotto was winning, all he had to do was dance the last two rounds out but he stood there and got beat.

I think Cotto did pretty good on the ropes, and most of the times, out-boxed Margarito on the ropes. But after the 7th round, Cotto wasn't striking back like he was when he was on the ropes earlier. He'd counter Margarito on the ropes, but Margarito kept getting the bigger shots in even if they weren't oh so clean as Cotto's.
So yeah Me, Viva, Kessler, Wlad Owns, Ippo, ElLuchio, CmmonMan'g, BmoreBrawler, Xzworks and like ten others.
You know the routine.

I had Margarito winning by K.O, I won a case of beer, but to be honest I was not really confident in my pick, but I did have him winning.
This has been by far a top 3 moment for me in boxing... watching Margarito beat Cotto.
