If u turn pro at 19, and are fighting at the 130lb division, then that is your natural weightclass THEN. If 10yrs later, u pack on some pounds, and decide to fight at 147 or 154, how are u fighting out of your natural weight class? Your natural weight is whatever your weight is at the time. Not 10-15yrs ago.
I've seen many posters here make an argument about certain fighters fighting outside thier natural weight class, and i just didnt make sense to me.

Well, yes and no. Durans natural weight wasn't middleweight or supermiddleweight. He really was a natural lightweight. What people mean is that at their best weight where should they be? If some guy can't be bothered training and is a fat bastard then it is not his natural weight is it? His natural boxing weight, not just natural weight.
Rod Barker said it best as well as the post Letsgobrady quoted.
I agree....no more talk about Floyd not fighting any "natural" WW's
good point Deevel
Yes that's definitely a good argument, one of those he will only have guts to apply to Floyd. I want to see Cotto at middleweight (really as a fan i don't) but if he packs the pounds i will make an identical post and hopefully receive a nice reply too.
So, just for clarity, when Manny Pacquiao weighs 146 on fight night for a 130 fight, is he a natural welterweight...or a natural superfeatherweight?
Neither.
Pac is a natural lightweight.
Deevel, How about if MOST of your fights were at 130?
If most of your fights were at 130, but now are unable to safely/easily make the weight, then your new fighting weight is your current natural fighting weight.
What's so hard to understand?
Wow you really are clueless, huh?
I would explain this to you if you werent such a lost cause.
Floyd walks around at aboutt 150 pounds and has for some time. Compare that to guys like Cotto and Marg who walk around at at least 160, even 170 naturally.
So ignorant, this thread is hilarious.
Clueless was your father when he didnt use a condom.
If u started your career at 130, and now fight at 147 (10yrs later), your natural weight is no longer 130. Your natural fighting weight is now 147. Some posters will argue that your natrual weight is the weight where u started fighting at.

i only use the natural weight class excuse when i'm hyping up duran or when i'm denying the hopkins win over trinidad.
VIVA TITO TRINIDAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
B-Hop is a bore.................
James Toney played HS Football and weighed around 200lbs....
educate :slap:
you have all this time to search and find james toney's weight yet u still couldnt tell me cottos???????

As long as Manny keeps putting on weight while looking dead fit and performing at the highest level, that is a difficult question.

I actually have his entire biography. Another example. Andre Berto was also a football player and weighed 185. He is a welterweight now becuase like i said, cruiserweight is not where he is suppose to be fighting at. :slap:

Thats not his natural weight class. Football players lift weights and bulk up to be strong enough to handle themselves on the field. For example, right now i weight 170 but i know that when i have to fight again (in the amatures) then i have to cut back down to 160 becuase i am a middleweight. That proves my point. Light heavyweight is not where i fight at.
Does this look like a heavyweight to you? Look at his small frame.

no, what they do is not fight in there natural weight. they always dehydrate 4 a fight, almost all fighters do it. if they fight @ say 147 usaually there true weight class should be @ least 154...ect.
Guys move up in weight for different reasons. A good contrast is Gatti at the end of his career and Cotto and 140. Both guys struggled to make that weight but the difference being that Gatti's body was worn and shot and couldn't get down safely at the end so he was forced to move up to 147 which was an unnatural weight for him because he was too small/slow.
Cotto on the other hand couldn't make weight because his body was probably growing and getting stronger, so when he moved up he was even better because 147 seems like a much more natural weight class for him. He's sharp, strong and doesn't need to dehydrate so much.

I have to disagree. For example, James Toney's natural weight is still middeweight or super middleweight becuase he did not grow out of that division. He ate himself out of that division and figured since he is already that much past his weight class, then why not go up instead of draining all of those pounds? Just take a look at his small frame. Does he even look like a heavyweight? Hes only 5'10 and still has the handspeed of a middleweight. Why? Becuase that is his natural weight class that he is suppose to be fighting at . If he was to get himself back into form, then i could still se him getting a fight with Hopkins becuase 220+ pounds is not where he is suppose to be at. Hope that makes sense.
Your natural weight is where you are most efficient and where your best form is , in a fighters career his best weight goes hand in hand with his best performances , its wrong to say your natural weight is whatever you are as you change through life , so the term should go right along with your best form as that is your natural weight .
What I meant was your best weight after a full training camp. Not necessarily your walking around weight. But not the weight you had to dangerously dehydrate yourself to make either.
There are several reasons to go up in weight.
There are fighters that can make weight at lower weight classes, but choose not to because they want to capture titles at different weight classes. i.e. Pacman, and PBF. They IMO, are fighting out of their natural weight class.

i agree with you

not true because you could want to fight at your natural weight of lets say 155 and your trainer feels its best for you to start your boxing career at maybe 135 that does not make 135 your natural weight
Your natural "fighting" weight is whatever weight u can get down to safely, without starving/dehydrating yourself.
