Does it matter to you what race a fighter is??...

if someone is my race or from my hometown i might root for them its only natural

Please read my response before you judge me. I am being brutaly honest. I am not of White, Black, or Hispanic desent. But when I go to a fight it matters to the fans around me. It brings energy to the table. Look at the Mexican vs PR history. If Cotto and Margarito were both Mexicans it would still be a great fight but it has more rivalry that one is Mexican and the other is puerto Rican. From what I read you said it does not matter to you what race/color a boxer is so you should've simply answered no. Yes it matters to me because of the amount of a following he will have and hype. Ricky Hatton would get the same props if he was black. Hate to say it but absolutely true. Look at Tye Fields. Mexican fighters have very loyal fans even when they lose outright they call it a robbery. Look at Marquez vs Pacman. Black fighters that have mad skills often get called boring and to defensive. Look at Winky Wright and PBF. I don't care what COLOR OR RACE a boxer is because I love the sport. Unfortunately reality is that is much easier to root for your own people than it is against. Sadly stating the truth.

No it doesn't matter to me at all. I like guys because I like the way they fight and even then I just don't like guys that go toe to toe or just box.

Personally i m getting a bit sick of all the racial threads that have been flooding the forum recently.. Now i m wondering does it really matter to YOU if a fighter is white, black, green, blue, orange?? For me it doesnt, i ve not got a racist bone in my body and i dont care where a fighter is from or what colour his skin is...if hes a fighter that excites me then i like him.... If not and u do dislike a fighter(s) because of his race, please explain.. :boxing: i feel that a fighter can be whatever colour, if i like that fighter and his style, i will support him. example: i'm a black man, my favorite active fighter is Margarito, i have watched him a long time now, and i think he is a good fighter. not a bum or scrub like i see most call him, but hey that just me. since i'm new here, i guess i will give a list of my favorite fighters, i have 6. 1) gerald "G man" mcclellin(hope i spelled that right, to bad he got hurt in the ring, that was a sad day for me) 2) tito trinidad(i loved tito's seek and destroy style, but he need to just sit down now) 3) margarito(die hard margo fan since the first time i saw him fight) 4) frankie randall( a great fighter that doesn't get the respect i feel he should) 5) stevie johnston(yeah i know he just got knocked out on friday night fights, but back in his prime at 130, he was a beast, and one of the best boxers i had seen, plus from my home town) 6) james tony(glad to see him back the other night) as you see i have a good mix of favorite fighters. oh and i will put pac-man and pavlik on my, they might make it on the list of favorites section. love the way they fight.

I don't get why people have to back up a race or a country. It's stupid and petty. I'm white mother fucker and I root for Miguel Cotto who is not American and my favorite fighter have been black. Who gives a shit where they come from or what they look like. I hate when people think fighters represent you, they dont represent shit they rep their selves.
