"There have been 32 opponents in 32 previous fights and in the end the winner has been Miguel Cotto. And that is going to continue," Cotto said.
Deserved a thread of it's own.
New entry
"We are always ready to put the work in. The mindset is not to go for the knockout, but to win the fight in every round," Cotto told Primera Hora. "There were 32 previous opponents who said they would beat me and they all failed. Margarito is going to be number 33. It doesn't matter what Margarito says, Miguel Cotto will return to Puerto Rico with the title."

rofl.......
too bad we'll never know for sure.
i don't think kostya has to rough him up "hatton"-style. hatton just holds and pushes.
kostya is much better skilled than hatton. he'll use his shoulder , a few elbows , turn floyd in a clinch. hatton is not half the man kostya was.
i like to think he beats floyd. castillo did ok against floyd in the 1st fight. kostya is better than castillo in almost every category.
He would definitely try that, I have seen Zoo sneaking in some nice elbows. I dont know if anyone uses his elbows better than Floyd, though. Actually the thought of this particular detail makes it interesting to see how dirty it could get.
Turning Floyd would be key, but it would not be easy at all seeing how he keeps his feet when he is on the inside. Hatton tried to, but failed.
Zoo and Castillo are very different fighters, and there was a second fight, where Floyd just got on his bicycle and won...
LOL @ "hatton was not half the man kostya was" did you quote hatton on that (he said something like that to the crowd in manchester after the fight) or did it just came out like that?
I meant the Mayweather-Hatton fight, where you can clearly see that the pretty boy knows all the ugly tricks. While he was a favorite, NO ONE thought he would win THAT fight in THAT way.
Kostya was deteriorated form injuries by the time he fought Hatton, and his movement, balance and stamina were much better, but Mayweather is much more than a slick boxer, and he would never underestimate Zoo.
Before Mayweather-Hatton I had the idea in mind that Zoo had a big chance by making it ugly, but I didnt know the con man tricks Mayweather had in there for ugly fights... now in no way I'd put my money on Zoo.
BTW you have all my support for posting as many videos as possible of Zoo!!!

quite clear from the hatton fight? we're talking about prime kostya not 36 yr. old fought once in 2-3 years kostya.
what does the hatton-kostya fight made quite clear to you? that kostya isn't that good at 35-36?
kostya style is perfect for a slick boxer. is floyd not a slick boxer?
behold the greatness that was KING KOSTYA........
sorry if you've seen me post kostya videos every 10 minutes or so. whenever kostya is mentioned......gotta post a highlight. not many have seen him or rate him highly. (especially the young guys.)

King Kostya
I highly disagree with the statement. Zoo loses 9/10 with Mayweather. He does not have the style trouble him:
he is not outroughing him (quite clear after the Hatton fight), he is not outworking him (at 140), he is not going to set up that straight right, and sure as hell he is not outboxing him from the outside. Other greats from 140 could do much better than Zoo would against Mayweather, even if they might lose to Zoo.

that's what they said about zab too......
kostya tszyu is one of the greatest 140 lb. guys ever.
he's the anti-slick boxer. 50/50 he ko's floyd at 140. at 135 or 147 floyd probably beats him though.
Agree with both statements the thing is that Mayweather is not 'just' a slick boxer a la Spinks or Judah, and even when he is just boxing and moving he is working with the whole fight in mind. He would also have immense respect for Zoo, and that's what would save him from getting cocky.
he got knocked out by kostya tszyu! that's not a big deal. kostya tszyu could've knocked out floyd prime vs. prime!
he had only 2 losses at 147. he's 8-3 now.

Yes. A friend wrote to me. So, I came back. The forum is different, so many words on my user panel. Its different and confusing. When I left, the forum was very bad, now it seems better again like before. I hope it is better.
I wouldnt say its better, most of your old nemesis arent here anymore but im sure you will develop new ones, the forum itself has more features, but the topics have evolved along with the evolution of the sport, from floyd mayweather, cotto the general popularity of the welterweight division and the rise of certain fighters, you will find the topics to be different from that time, maybe your time away will have you view it differently, welcome back.
and dont expect any love for wlad anytime soon.
did you just decide to make a comeback recently? Yes. A friend wrote to me. So, I came back. The forum is different, so many words on my user panel. Its different and confusing. When I left, the forum was very bad, now it seems better again like before. I hope it is better.
tszyu could never beat floyd mayweather
