Dawson/Tarver is officially set for October 11th!!!! Predictions???

Dawson needs to be on his best game becuase Tarver could captialize on all of his mistakes if he were to come out banging with him the way he did in the early rounds against Johnson. I would love for Dawson and Diaconu to unify if Diaconu were to get past Johnson after Branco. I would favor Johnson or Diaconu though. It would still be a great fight.

the winner should fight the winner of calzaghe/jones. that would be amazing and not to mention it makes alot more sense. That would make a lot of sense, however Calzaghe has stated that the Jones fight is his last and if Jones upset Calzaghe, he would still be looking for the big fights with the big names. The public wants to see an undisputed light heavyweight champion and people are also complaining how Dawson avoiding Diaconu. If Dawson was to beat Tarver and Diaconu was to beat Johnson, then there is no doubt in my mind that Dawson will fight him to unify. The Tarver fight is a fight that he has been wanting becuase he seeks recognition and this fight will also be his biggest pay day in his entire career.

dawson all day, and yes... tarver WILL have excuses, so no reason to ask the question in the first place....

Im thinking the younger man Dawson is going to take this one. He's been waiting for this type of fight and I think he's gonna take advantage of it.

Dawson looked horrible against Johnson because he recently switched trainers and was inactive for 7 months. Since Dawson training with Mayweather Sr. is no longer a possibly (just read what Mayweather Sr. said about Dawson) it looks like Dawson is stuck with Eddie Muhammad. Slick do you think Dawson will get back to form with Muhammad or he needs a new trainer? Dawson looked technically sound against Mendoza and even with Johnson and those are the only fights that Muhammad was with him. I seen an improvement in his combination punching but his punches and foot work seemed a bit sloppy and his jab wasn't as effective as it use to be. Eddie was telling Chad to do the right things against Johnson but Dawson just seemed to let his ego get the best of him. He just made the wrong decisions when being pressured becuase that was the first time that anyone has brought that much heat on him. I think he will be fine, but i would feel more comfortable about that if he was with Floyd SR. or even going back with Dan Birmingham. Mustafa is a good trainer, but his fighters in the past is not really known for being very successful. The good thing is that Dawson knows what to do and will not do the wrong things if hes uncomfortable with it. Do you think he needs a new trainer?

Dawson by decision. I don't think Tarver has the legs to move out of danger anymore so I think if Dawson applies the right gameplan and uses his speed, he'll win the fight as Roy Jones said, Tarver can't deal with speed anymore. Dawson has to be careful not to get caught though because Tarver can still bang.

I want to say Tarver KO...I think the old man might upset Dawson.

Tarver may have done more in the division than Calzaghe, but he sure didn't do better against Bernard Hopkins. Thats true however Calzaghe didn't look too great against Hopkins either. Tarver has done more in the division and a win over Dawson should surely put him at the number 1 spot. Calzaghe is not interesting in unifying the titles and it will only matter of time until the sactioning bodies puts a mandotory on him.

If either guy wins, then it should boost them to the number one spot becuase both are champions and both are ranked in the top 5. I like Calzaghe, but the only name that he has beaten was Bernard Hopkins and thats not fair for him to ranked at number one over guys that have done more in the division and beaten the better guys there. Dawson will probably win a UD, he won't risk it and try to go for a knockout but he has what it takes to win. Also, Tarver has had a string of terribly lazy outings of late.

I like Dawson and feel strongly about it. Great Showtime double bill with the Peter-Vitali fight.
