So Berto was biding his time, amassing experience in the most stacked division (along with Lightweight) in all of boxing, getting ready to make his move, when all of a sudden a fight against an ordinary b-level fighter (at best) gets ordained a title fight for the Mayweather's vacated WBC belt.
He wins with an impressive victory. Now all of a sudden, he HAS to fight a bonafide contender. Not saying I don't think he's ready, cause he does have mad skills, but of the top challengers, who do you think his first fight should be and why?
Do you wanna see him ease into the elite by tacking a Collazo or Clottey/Judah winner near the bottom of the pool, or go head first into a showdown with the likes of a Cotto or Paul Williams... You decide.
If Berto could stay on the inside where Cintron is completely ineffective, he would have a field day with Kermit en route to a mid round stoppage. On the outside, Andre needs to keep his hands up a bit.
Yeah on the inside Berto could land a few of those uppercuts and Cintron could be in trouble. On the other hand if Cintron landed some big shots we'll find out how good of a chin Berto gots.
Cintron should fight at least 5 more fights before he gets a title shot. He is heartless IMO. He basically quit twice against Margie. No way does he get a shot at a belt this soon. I like the JUdah/Clottey winner. Then that inner unifies against the PW vs Cotto/Margie winner. Lets demand unification!!!!!!!!!!!!
thats a nice little clip, did u ever see the collazo vs rivera fight?
that was a fight and a half, it wasn't televised but theres clips out there.
Never saw it but heard about it. I saw Rivera vs Collazo-stable-mate Travis Simms, but that was more of a beat down. Rivera was probably more dangerous at Welter, hence the competitve nature of the fight. i'll look out for a tape of that one for sure. thanks!
good stuff guys all around!
How about the loser of Clottley - Judah instead of the winner, since I believe the loser of that division would serve more as a gatekeeper for new generations of boxers like Berto to prove themselves.
so called "champs" should not fight losers. unless you wanna beat up zab like mayweather and cotto.
Kermit Cintron

I think he should fight Mosley. Shane is no where near done (as he proved against Cotto) and it would be a great payday for Andre. If not, maybe a fight with Quintana or Collazo would be OK.
Collazo would make sense, if not then probably Cintron. Not one of the top guys just yet, but some of the lower top 10 guys just to see where he really stands in the division.
Id love to see berto fight judah, I think the speed would be cool to watch cuz they are both amazingly fast. I think itd be fun to see how berto deals with speed like zabs
well, I think he could beat clottey, judah, collazo and cintron. I guess clottey/judah winner or cintron would be the best bet to get him recognition without facing a big risk fighter.
I would say Cintron or Collazo. Collazo is less dangerous but has a style to make a lot of guys look bad. Kermits style is suited for Berto, but he's got to look out for that power. all and all he's gonna get thrown to the wolves swooner or later as this division is stacked with tough dangerous fighters.
I voted for Collazo. I think it would be a good test for Berto. If he wins, he amasses elite slickster southpaw experience which would prepare him to unify two of the titles against judah, should judah beat clottey (which is certainly not set in stone). I also wanna see Luis get his shot. It will certainly be a challenge for Berto and may the best Welter win!
I heard Collazo might get a shot at Williams. Kind of like payback for helping Williams prepare for Quintana.
