Roy fell off b/c he went up to heavyweight, most of us can agree on that. Although he is a shadow of his prime, it's plenty enough to beat Joe Calzaghe. We all know there is no way in hell Calzaghe can KO Jones or even hurt him. Jones will be hungry and preparing for this like it was his first title shot. Roy still has quicker hands and better power. Many people, mostly Americans, know that Joe is way overrated and his precious undefeated record is due to handpicked opponents from his daddy and Frank Warren. Joe is not an ATG, most of America knows this. Everyone around the world know RJJ is. Compare their resumes, one is superb, the other, not even close.
I agree, about Hopkins, but Tom may be Wales' best singer, but not their best recording artist. Don't forget, we have the Manic Street Preachers, The Stereophonics and the truly wonderful Goldie Lookin' Chain.
Best athlete is wide open, BTW.
Could be Giggs, could be Joe or it could even be Ian Rush.
But that would be unfair to the likes of Gerald Davies, Jimmy Wilde, Ieuan Evans, JPR Williams etc.
The list of world class Welsh athletes is almost endless.
The Manics were past their prime when Ritchie left. They had a decent performance in Everything Must Go but after that it was clear they were shot. Stereophonics sound like a shot Manic Street Preachers. Goldie Lookin Chain are quite good.
Giggs is the best currently active Welsh athlete but yes, he is also past his best. All time it's hard to say. Jimmy Wilde has to be up there.
Many posters have this image of Roy Jones as being unstoppable destroyer in his prime, impossible to hit, devastating power etc etc.
That isn't the way it actually was though, Roy's talent was great, of that there is no doubt but he very often boxed his way to decisions quite boringly, very often had to cover up on the ropes as his opponent swung away. Yes he blew away some of his opposition, but for the most part it was mediocre.
In a hypothetical Calzghe vs Roy fight you should imagine the way Roy fought against his better opponents, Hopkins and Toney and Calzaghe, after few rounds of being outboxed on outside realising he woul have to be MUCH more aggressive. In order to win, Calzaghe would risk getting KOd in a way that Hopkins and Toney did not.
In theory, Roy has the tools to beat Joe, but this would have been amuch closer, much more exciting fight than some of you think.
Your hypothesis is completely one-sided. Sure, you have to look at how Roy fought against better opposition but what does that have to do with Calzaghe? Joe C. was nowhere near as good as Toney was then and his style couldn't have been any different from Hopkins. And those are two fights Jones' won going away.
The only thing I'd agree with is that a prime Jones-prime Calzaghe match would've been exciting. Calzaghe would've pressed the issue and, like everyone else who did so against Jones in his prime, he would've been stopped.
Oh and you know you live in a dimuntive, limp dick country when Joe Calzaghe is your best athlete, Tom Jones your best singer, and Catherine Zeta Jones your best actor.
Since when was Catherine Zeta Jones a man?
The more I think about it, the more I get a sneaky feeling RJJ might just pull it off. His tactical brain and his motivation for this could just pull him through.
Anyone want to bet 6k with me? (I know it's a measly amount but it's all I got)
5K? Leaves you with a few points if you lose.

Damnit that comeback ALWAYS WORKS. I don't understand how people voted for the guy "they rather have a bear wit" it's TOTALLY IDIOTIC.

Why are douches like you allowed to post crap like this?
Best athlete is Ryan Giggs, best actor is Anthony hopkins and Tom Jones... p4p king.

jones his capable but calzaghe is more dangerous at the moment. jones will dazzle with speed and power BUT nowadays he can only do that for abou 30 seonds a round. the rest of the round will be dominated by calzaghe

But Wales is a limp dick country.
I remember people saying no way can Glen Johnson hurt or knockout Roy Jones and guess what happened.
Jones has a chance but it won't be easy at all for him, he'll have to fight a near perfect fight to win at this stage.
