What is the latest era of Boxing to for us? There is some confusion at times about this issue. You can make your choice from the poll.
To me, it's the list of fighters currently at their best, and have been for some time. Since they came up, to now at their dominance. Not Roy Jones JR. but Floyd Mayweather JR. Not Lennox Lewis but Wladimir Klitschko and so on.

Except I think Hatton and Pac belong is Last era. They've been fighting a while and Pac doesn't have far to go until he runs out of weigh classes, he might be able to handle some Jr. Welters like Bradley (inexperienced) but the others are just too big. Hatton is almost done unfortuanately and he should be looking to finish his career with a Malignaggi fight then maybe a Bradley/Kotelnik fight for his last and then retire on top.
I'd say last era is Trinidad, Floyd, Roy Jones Jr, Oscar, Hatton, Pac-man, Chris John, Barrera, Juan Manuel Marquez, Morales, Lennox, Tyson, Holyfield, Hopkins, Calzaghe, Casamayor, Campbell, Mosely, Mayorga, Vargas, Forrest, Judah, Winky Wright, Glen Johnson, Mormeck, Bell.
New Era is Klitchko, Haye, Mijares, Cotto, Margarito, Williams, Pavlik, Taylor, Abraham, Kessler, Berto, Gamboa, Khan, BJ Flores, Rafael Marquez, Vazquez, Calderon, Donaire, Guzman, Valero, Arthur Abraham, Katsidis, Juan Diaz, Malignaggi, Bradley, Mora, Clottey, Lpoez, Ponce De Leon, Dawson, Cunningham, Maccarinelli
Despite the fact that it's sad that those other guys are gonna hang them up soon(not Holy though) but I must say, the future is looking bright imo.
I always thought the new era started when Lewis retired after beating Vitali. I don’t know why.
I thought that but then I realised that wasn't that long ago.

an era is just about to end with Trinidad, De La Hoya, Hopkins, JC, Roy Jones JR, Mosley, Mayorga and Maybe Floyd.
While there is about 4 years new era with Hatton, Cotto, Floyd, Berto , Margarito, P.Williams, Ponce de Leon, PAC, a ong others
I honestly don't get the whole era thing. Unless they mean a selected few top fighters who start at the same time and we get to follow there career as it unfolds. I don't know. Someone explain.
Yes, it is a bit hard to explain. But if you've been following the sport for some time(And I don't mean anything by this) you'll notice eventually how fighters "pass the torch" to the next young fighters. Right now we are seeing that with guys like Cotto, Williams, Haye, Pavlik, Kessler etc.
