Nobody is always right. It's just not the way of the world....even for me.
I was thinking about a prediction I had made on this forum probably 2 years ago that I had absolutely no basis for at the time. I recall thinking and pondering as to who might be able to beat Mayweather and mentioning I'd think Cintron had a chance given his size and style. I remember thinking Mayweather would win rounds but eventually get tagged by Cintron... for the life of me I don't know why I made this assumption and while he would have the standard puncher's chance, that's still nowhere near close enough to a legitimate shot at a W.
So what about you? Any horrible prediction or assumption you've ever made about a fighter that turned out to be completely wrong or in hindsight seems really stupid.
I'm not talking just a standard pick 'em fight that went the wrong way either, so keep that shit out of here.
Miranda KO AA -- Mostly I just wanted it to happen.
As a big fan of Calsoggy I picked him over B-Hop though, even though I wanted B-Hop to win because of the Soggz padded rec.
I also picked James Toney over Sam Peter in both fights.

the cotto mosley fight....i thought mosley was gonna kill cotto.....
I downloaded it and only let myself listen to a couple of songs. I like what I've heard so far. I'm in the same boat as you though...I don't want to listen to too much of it or it will take some of the luster away when I eventually purchase it. But yeah Tech sounds as good as ever. Good to see some fellow N9na fans around!
Screw N9ne... Die Hard is now in.

Fo sho' TECH N99999NEEEE! Haha. Seriously, though, I listened to a few, too, and I love his flow as much as ever...but I am getting a little tired of Krizz being on EVERY hook. Even when he's not listed as being featured he's on the songs now. I mean, I know the guy has a nice baritone to see with...but damn. Vitiligo wasn't even that hot. Oh well. Back to boxing.
I know this isn't boxing related but I'm feeling the love for Tech N9ne and Killer, Gringo! Nice! Do you have the album yet? I downloaded it, in its entirity, but won't let myself listen to it. If I do, I wouldn't buy it with the same zeal.

Abraham Okine over Shannon Briggs...

I argued on here that Hatton had a chance. But I bet all of my points on Floyd. A few of the really strong cheerleaders for Hatton no longer post here, or do so under alts.
Yep. I wonder who that cat Wiley Coyote is these days. Cause that muthphucka got owned back to Bolivian....:lol1:
I'm loving your honesty, dude. I wish more guys on here would fess up.
Notice how NOBODY on here had picked Hatton? Isn't that odd?

It's generally in lesser named fights or one that aren't on huge national stages. When you can make a prediction because it will be less scrutinized people tend to give themselves more wiggle room on making predictions.
At least in my case.
Yeah. I also feel strongly that boxing is a sport that centers on intangibles. In a close fight people wonder: who wants it more? Who has the "killer instinct"? We're going to hear many personal judgements about passion, heart, or aggresion when it comes to some upcoming fights people see as evenly match; like Pavlik-Abraham if it comes off, or even for many people Cotto-Margarito. When people can't really decide whom they think is better of two men, they often turn to those intangibles. Watch for it. Stuff like-
"Pavlik is going to take it to Abraham. He just got on top and wants to represent Youngstown and make it proud." How do we know that? I mean really.
"Margarito is going to KO Cotto late because he's not going to stop until he's dead in there. The Williams fight tarnished him and he's going to come out like the Tijuana Tornado he is!" Really? How the hell do we know if Margarito has hurt pride from his last loss?
Such sentiments often cause people to make ill-advised choices- or at least unwarranted ones.
Let me think hard.
Can't think of any others off the top of my head.

I already said I was giving Taylor a shot at a UD against Pavlik in the second fight.
I thought Shane could outbox Cotto, honestly.
In terms of lesser fights....I had no fucking clue that Ponce De Leon was going to get blasted like that in his last fight. I knew he was rough, and flawed, but I was expecting another KO from him, honestly.
I was off on the Williams-Quintana fight. I thought it might be a tough night, but I didn't see Paul being outboxed over 12.
Can't think of any others off the top of my head.
The first fight i ever watched was gatti vs mayweather, I picked Gatti lol, I feel so dumb now knowing what i know but i had never even seen a boxing match
Really think people. Think of a fight you went against the common/popular pick and were just completely wrong.
I think (not positive) I might've picked The Real Deal Holyfield to take out Sultan when they fought... although I think I just said there might be value in betting given how much of an underdog he was. I know I picked Briggs...heh.
Whoops.
Lacy vs Calzaghe.
And this last Miranda Abraham fight. I know you said non pick em fights, but fuck it, coming back from a 15 hour work day, and finding out Miranda got ko'd in the fourth round, well that's a pretty bad way to end your Saturday...:lol1:
