who is the Best inside fighter ever in your own opinion ,u dont have to agree with other peoples choices its just personal preference
id go for Julio Cesar Chavez personally ,there was'nt many fighters that got the better of JCC on the inside
u dont rumble on the inside with JCC
Actually now that I think about it Pernell Whitaker while not being known for his inside fighting was beating Julio Cesar Chavez on the inside on occasions, which impressed me.
While i don't think he's a better inside fighter than JCC, he must be noted for his ability to be extremely effective on the inside when he wants to be.
Yeah, like duran did huh? Duran even backed hagler off on the inside. 40Cal's game is jabbing and fighting inside. I don't think he was the best inside fighter, but i can't knock a man for thinking that. You asked, they answered. Nobody questioned anyone picking chavez as a better inside fighter.
i would not abuse anyone for picking there favourite but for Ricky i make an exception cause his pick is purely biased on his favourite fighter being Joe Calzaghe and it aint an objective pick
dude you are a Calzaghe hugger and u are going on my ignore list for talking absolute bull
like Holyfiled is not shot Roy Jones is not shot , i hate Joe Nuthugger :nonono:
I'd have to go with James toney he was able to fight on the inside from middle weight all the way up to heavyweight. of course at heavyweight he looked morbidly obese and had no real power but on the inside he can still hit without being hit...well maybe not now but he used to be able to 30 lbs ago.
Probably Roberto Duran.
Incredibly hard to shake once he got inside, where he went to work from all angles.
Might not of been pretty to watch, but was incredibly effective.
Check out the fight with Carlos Palomino for enlightenment.
Henry Armstrong is probably his main rival for the title.
Harry Greb from all accounts was one of the great inside fighters, but seeing how we're stuck with newspaper reports instead of fight films we'll never know.
JC Chavez deserves a mention - brutally effective on the inside.
Jeff Fenech is another that deserves a mention - probably even harder to shake than Duran once he got on the inside, & was utterly relentless once he got there.
Wasn't as smart as Duran though, & lacked punching power.
Jack Dempsey probably deserves a mention - an utterly brutal, smart, inside fighter with vicious punching power.
Unfortunately spent much of his prime doing second rate movies for Hollywood.
Jake La Motta is another name I'd chuck in the mix.
Not a nice guy, but frankly, any really good inside fighter is real b*stard in the ring.

go to the 1:30 mark and you'll see 30-45 secs of what im talking about. Greatest inside fighter ever.
also 4:15 vs 4:35 mark is more action of his inside fighting style
i cant understand why people think Mike Tyson was great on the inside
he was good from mid range ,when he was inside he was content to hold and not punch inside
there are plenty of times where Tyson would just stand there and hold instead of working on the inside he even said himself he did not like fighting on the inside
Joe Frazier used to pull his arms away from clinches and try work away on the inside Mike Tyson never used to do that IMO he would wait for the referee to break them up so he could find his range
Well i can see that...I was thinking more on the line of how quick he was able to get inside and destroy someone. But fighting inside for a period longer than his bob n weave, get inside quick and throw punches.....then your right. If you could get past that then it was a clinch and the ref would break it up. Mike was in and out and didnt stay long inside.
So after rethinking...i would have to say henry armstrong. He had great head movement and would lean on you with his head and fire away an ungodly amount of combos and punches to the body and head. His work rate alone and ability to stay inside for a very long time and throw punches makes me give him the crown for best inside fighter.
If any SMW/MW went toe to toe with Hagler they'd get beat up, perhaps with the exception of Monzon/Marcel. To answer your question, Duran and Julio Cesar Chavez are the two greatest inside fighters ever.
exactly what kinda of idiot thinks Joe Calzaghe is better than Hagler on the inside let alone great inside fighters like Duran ,JCC
