No ifs and or buts, Forrest did not train properly for this fight, he was flabby, and expected to KO Mora within 4. In the first few rounds he was REALLY loading up on his punches, trying to get Mora out of there. He's a class act and did not want to make excuses for his loss, but you can just see by the smile he had on his face at the end when Jim Gray asked him if he'd continue fighting. He knew he overlooked Mora and wasn't in condition to go 12. \ Props to Mora though for fighting a great fight, he was really ripping Forrest at times. I think Forrest will look better in his next fight and will be much more prepared to go the distance. He was gassed by round 7.
I never understood how Forrest could beat two softies, and all of a sudden get called a great fighter again. He's been protected for a reason. Mora was supposed to be another easy opponent. I underestimated Mora, but Vernon has always been overrated since his comeback.
That said I still think he's a good fighter, just not what every one was making him out to be. He still has his technical skills, he's just slower. Mora fought a good fight.
Forrest and Mosley, the 2 most over rated fighters in recent memory.......
True to a point, true.....
you're going to get a lot of hate, but props on calling it how you see it, oh i aggree that both are over rated
They're hating because they know Mora made Forrest look like shit.
Trying to discredit Mora makes them feel better. It doesn't matter though MORA is the Champ now.
Has Forrest ever looked that slow before? Has he ever thrown that few of punches before? With nothing on them? Even against much better opposition he has looked alot better. Mora did exactly what he said he was doing, waiting until he saw a title fight that he could win. He gambled on Forrest being old, not taking him seriously and not being able to handle a young active guy. Mora is MUCH smarter then I gave him credit for. Still, there is no denying that Forrest did NOTHING in this fight, and you cant give Mora all the credit, cause Forrest looked like shit from the get go. He has never looked that slow, weak and beaten before, not against Mosley, Ike or even with a fucked up shoulder against Mayorga. All he did was load up on big shots, and had nothing on them. He didnt jab very much which is amazing, because it was working for him when he did. All that bitching by me aside, congrats to Mora. I gave him no chance to win this fight. I can add this one to the Mosley v Cotto fight that I was way the fuck off on.

yeah whatever. forrest has been crap for years. before the shoulder and even before he beat mosley.
if you put mosley in there tonight , same shape vernon would've whooped him again.
am i the only one that thinks the only reason forrest AND tarver won their fights is because they're bad matchups to the greater fighters they defeated? i guess i am......
Forrest is just past it now. I didnt think he could look that bad if he tried. And he is gonna be on suicide watch after losing to a "contender." Im not any kind of a fighter and even I would be depressed as hell losing to Mora.

Mora made Forrest look old there's a difference kids.
I don't agree that he overlooked him, and I don't agree that Mora made him look old. I really do think that he is just done. He looked slow, and most importantly, he lost his stamina quickly after showing NO power in his punches. That is a bad sign. If he doesn't generate power in his punches and still gets winded, that means he is in trouble for the rest of his career.

No, Forrest is done as a top fighter in the sport. He's old and has had too many periods of inactivity. Plus, he's lazy and boring to watch, so good bye Viper, go hang out with Mayweather, maybe he'll give you some Money.
Forrest is shot. Even if he came in prepared he wouldn't have the inside fighting skills, accuracy, or stamina to keep up with the younger and more active Mora. It's a shame, I was rooting for him to knock Mora out but he was clearly outclassed in the second half of the fight and didn't look like he had much left in him.
