How else you think he lands his punchs that are most times slower then his opponets punchs and you'll be surprised by Margaritos speed when matched with Cottos. Draining himself the night before to make weight, but he ballooned back to 150+ come fight night, I still don't see the point. In Cotto's case, not having to lose that extra 7 pounds before a fight helps a lot, it means he's not dehydrating and starving himself to make weight. It's not good for your body to balloon back up to 150+ from 140.

I really can't see the truth in this, how can someone's chin get better at a higher weight class? it's only a 7 lbs difference in weight, of course that's only the weight in and all these welter balloon up to 160 fight night but if you have a weak chin, it makes not difference whether you weight 140-147 or 200lbs. The higher weight class you fight in the harder the punchers will be for the most part, so I really don't understand this theory. Draining yourself to make weight is known to lessen your ability to take punches. That's exactly what Cotto was doing, draining himself to make weight.

Cotto has too much arsenal in his bag for Margarito. Cotto has been in bigger fights and knows how to handle himself. I think he'll gradually break Margarito down and eventually start throwin bombs later in the fight. I mean let's face it, Margarito's best competition came against guys like Kermit Cintron, Joshua Clottey(who he almost lost to), Daniel Santos(who he lost to), and let's just throw Paul Williams in there (who he also lost to). If you look at the Santos, Clottey, and Williams fights they all did the same thing. Straight 1-2's down the middle and countered Marg's right all night with left hooks. If you're not there to brawl with Tony he has no idea what to do. Cotto can both box & brawl simultaneously. Cotto will stop Margarito in 10 rounds if not sooner. It'll be an exciting fight for as long as it lasts.

Marquez used intelligent movement, footwork and picked his spots to unload and that fight is considered a war. Outboxing someone doesn't have to look like PBF/Whittaker. Now can Margarito like Vazquez force prolonged exhanges like Vazquez did. Vasquez is a much more calculated fighter than margarito though, although he comes in wide, he doesnt rely on volume punching, but rather timing. I think i was going by what i saw in the last 3 rounds of the mosley/cotto fight, in terms of him using his footwork.

....and Cotto will see them coming miles away because Margarito throws wide looping punches. Marg throws wide punches and cotto those hard punches that may get him of balance from time to time. This will come down to ring generalship. Who can control the tempo and get there game plan working in full effect. If marg can come out a strong first 4 rounds, get cotto going backwards and non-offensive he has this fight. If cotto can give marg a good dose of body shots and establish a good rhythm to his punches i honestly think he will put marg on his ass. Overall i got Cotto in a win, not 100% on the type of win, just a win

People keep talking about Cotto's overall skills, which are better, but on the other hand, Cotto isnt bigger than this guy, and his chin certainly in my opinion, isnt better than Margaritos. This is a tough fight to call, but I'm going with Margarito, even though he's not a favorite of mine, I think he's too busy and strong for Cotto. He'll just throw til something connects and down goes Cotto. Once Cotto is hurt I don't think Marg will let him off the hook.

After cotto beats Margarito, I hope margarito's hype goes the fuck away. Cotto hides his face behind his gloves testing almost to the threshold how many punches he can withstand..........appearing hurt to many (despite him perhaps not being). So he can find an opening and land a counter on the inside. That rope a dope thing or whatever. All I know is I don't think he has the fortitude to take all of the types of strange punches Tony will throw over and over. I mean he was hurt by a nicking shot by Corley, Tony will throw fifty of those in the first minute of the fight. WTF, are you talking about, Threshold, fortitude, over and over, WTF is that?
