Any that I am missing? I just figured it'd be fun to keep a tally.
I gotta go with Miranda-Banks, the way Banks fell on the ropes and the noise the punch generated when it hit his face made it VERY impressive to me. Not only that but it was barely in the 3rd round and Miranda didn't land anything before that. That was Miranda's I think 2nd right hand he landed in the fight. Also Banks had never been KO'd or knocked down in his career before. The impressive 1 punch KO has my vote.
I go with Miranda/Banks as well. When judging KO of the year, you got to remember - it's the whole package, not just the shot itself, how the body falls, how devastating it looks, etc. is just as important, if not more important.
That's why I thought last year it should have went to darnell wilson over Nwodo - I mean the way the body just absolutely crumbled to the canvas, body all limp, that made it somethin special.
Agreed, it's also an important factor the fighter's chin, Vilche's hasn't got the greatest of chins and Miranda-Banks, that was the first time Banks got KOd (is that correct?). That KO is devastating, what won the KO of then year 07?!
Miranda vs. Banks!! The impact of the shot was just incredible, and it's crazy him mangled threw the ropes. Just because Banks got up doesn't mean he was alright. The Vilches KO by Urango looks worse because it's a hook on the jaw and that Vilches appears to be dead but the fact is Vilches has been KO'd 5 times in his professional career, he's got a glass chin.
I dunno man. I just watched them all. I know I may be a tiny bit biased, but the way Banks went to sleep with one right hand and hung suspended on the ropes was pretty damn dramtic and unusal. Plus, the sound of that punch was like a shot gun went off!
I guess it depends on if you want to include the aftermath. Viches was just out cold for awhile, kinda scary. Banks got up, which kinda takes away from the brutalness of it all, but he was on queer street and couldnt even sit on the bench without help.
Hell, make a poll with these fights and let's see what people think.
My vote will be for Miranda putting the contender hype though the ropes!
I would deff say Miranda-Banks is a close second

Plus how he kinda hung lifeless on the ropes for about 2 seconds.
Yeah, it was a good, clean KO. It just wasn't the frightening devastation that was Green-Codrington. To me it was a case of the ropes enhancing the drama.
It is because of the drama of Banks going through the ropes. He actually recovered somewhat quickly.

He got up, but I wouldnt say he recovered quickly. He was wobbely and couldnt even sit on the stool without direction!
Miranda-Banks is a bit overrated IMO
Fair enough. It has a good shot, and it totally threw Banks out of the ring, but he was not totally out like Vilches or Castillejo. Is that kinda what you mean?
