I give him a 6 at welterweight. I would give him a 7 but he does not sit down on his punches a lot. A 6 will still earn him respect and he can hurt guys.
At lightweight I would have given him an 8. I know 8 sounds like a lot, but Floyd is a sneaky and clean puncher and that can bust guys up.
i think everyone is getting confused with the rating system here. for example that arse wipe $!N voted 1 and we know he ass fucks mayweather. and now you say at 130 hes 9 coz hes powerfull?
1 is best and 10 is shit
rite????????????????
Think what you want, Floyd had very good power at 130.
Floyd's damage potential is less about sheer punching power and more about catching you with fast, accurate, unanticipated shots (as have many of the greats, like SRR). The punch you don't see hurts the most.
That's about all it comes down to. He doesn't have great or even underrated power. It's all about his ability to counter with speed and accuracy so that when the punch lands it isn't seen or comes at an unexpected time, which is going to do more damage than any seen punch.
If we're talking about raw power he really doesn't have very much. Even at the lower weights he wasn't some devastating puncher. He was bigger than most fighters and also, more importantly, he had much more speed and better accuracy and timing. When we talk about good power you think of one punch KO's and if there is one thing Mayweather doesn't have it is one punch KO power. I think he is around a six because of his speed and timing/accuracy with unexpected counters.
I've often seen a lot of people say he has massively underrated power, but, while he is not a soft puncher he really doesn't actually have a great deal of power. He wears down fighters with sharp punches that hurt because they are caught unawares but you can always tell if someone has good power if they hit someone and they are flat out KO'ed whether or not they saw the punch. If Tommy Hearns was a ten, Mayweather is lucky to be getting a six. Even as a lightweight anyone thinking he is above a seven at max is a bit deluded as to what power means here. Rosario was quite powerful. Duran was quite powerful. Mayweather won by TKO in probably more than 90% of his stoppage wins. He doesn't KO people; he stops them with speed and accuracy when the corner or ref steps in and says "No more".
That's not saying anything bad at all. He just simply isn't some great power puncher and he certainly doesn't need to be as his speed, timing and accuracy with counters make up for it. The only times he hurts fighters is when it is with an unseen counter shot, but really, is it important that he has power? I guess for some it might be.

I think 10 is the highest.
Sin doesn't even like Mayweather. He hates him... but he just sees him as the lesser of two evils between Mayweather and Brits.
Sin is a retard.
Even you are a couple of steps above him. Well done Davey! :fuckyou:
At 130, Floyd's power was probably a 9.
At WW, not so much, he was hitting Hatton with straight rights for 10 rounds and Ricky was eating them up like candy. If not for that ringpost assist.........

Question DWiens421 who hits harder Pavlik or Cintron cause i think Pavlik power is overated aswell
I'd say Pavlik for P4P and reality (obviously).
I think Pavlik hits hard as hell, but still, even though he does punch very hard, people still find a way to wildly overrate his punching power (like they do with every other aspect of Kelly Pavlik).
Knocking Miranda and Taylor out gives him credibility of punching power against really good fighter, and Cintron has none of that.
what do u think :pat:
Thought so. I'd have to see Cintron fight a live body before I could decide. Stopping a bunch of journeyman doesn't impress me that much. I do think Pavlik gets you with with an accumulation of punches, more than a single one.
So there you have it.
Mathysse is balls, and Cintron hasn't shown ridiculous power against anyone good. :)
i think he would hit harder if he shortened his hooks up and did'nt ark his right hand so much ,i get the impression he is arking his right hand all the while instead of throwing it straight down the middle
he deffo shows his power to much he does'nt put much disguise on it IMO
Sebastien Lujan that guy is terrible aswell our own Jamie Moore beat him
So there you have it.
