really silence?i respect you as a poster but this ?come on man you're better than that.
no, this was a very competitive fight. I actually made that video, because I feel like Vasquez is a fairly underrated fighter, and I once heard someone call those knockdowns 'slips', which they sure as hell were not. the first knockdown maybe was a case of being off-balance, but the rest...hell no.
this was a very fun fight. Winky was landing some huge shots on Vasquez, but Vasquez's head is like a rock, haha...he was a way harder puncher back then, it was really a war considering how many times Winky was hurt in the fight. Winky took his own share of big punches too though, it wasnt like Winky was just getting caught for every knockdown
I like how at the end of the fight, the British commentary said something like 'Vasquez has been such a great titleholder, and this was a gutsy performance by him. Ronald Wright proved he was a good fighter tonight, and his time will come'
It sure did eventually.
My bad.... I Thought you were reponding to the video (Mistaking Winky for Pernell). I reread your post and I noticed that you were speaking on the fact that Pernell was that great of a fighter.
haha that was funny i too was like what the hell is this guy talking about!

This shows the greatness of Pernell Whitaker who - a former lightweight champ - moved all the way up to 154, beat Vasquez and promptly moved back down because he wasn't comfortable with the weight.
:wtf: Pernell Whitaker? Can i offer you a subscription to anyone of the various boxing mags.
PERNELL WHITAKER

if you would actually look at the final scores i think you will see that he was right...come on, you're better than that
I think what Anton was trying to say was that it's a moot point. The knockdowns did happen and it's factored into the scoring. It's kinda like saying Marquez would have beaten Pacquiao if he didn't get knocked down three times in the first fight.
BTW Nice video rogelio1289.
Here's how the fight was scored:
judge: Marcos A. Torres 110-115, judge: Ove Ovesen 110-114, judge: Marcial Vargas 110-113.
It was a close fight and Wright could've won if not for those 3 rounds where he was almost KO'd in, the third knockdown is quite brutal and the fight could've been stopped by another referee.
those judges were good to vazquez he didnt win a round in which he didnt socre a knockdown.....they shouldve had it 112-111 if tey were gonna ave vazquez winning....and the ref shouldve deducted like 3 points form vazquez for rabbit punching he gives him like 9 warnings....

The first time I saw Winky use the style he uses today was against Harry Simon, even before the Simon fight with Dodson and Bingham, he was still moving around, using his legs but kept a higher guard than what we saw against Vazquez.
But the first time I saw him stand flat footed and use his turtle shell defense was against Harry Simon, didn't work out so well for him in that fight though.
yea but still you cant take those knockdowns away. they were legit and worth their due. you cant really blame the loss on the knockdowns kd's are part of the game.
Exactly one guy can dominate rounds but as long as the opponent hasn't given up and still has his eyes on the prize and catches the other guy, all that goes out the window.
Knocking a guy around like that for 2 round straight is even more dominant. Even if Wink would have walked out the winner, that guy would have been the winner of the fight.
The days before he used the shell defense, when Winky actually used his youthful legs to move around.
Fighting Mosley is probably the first time he started trying to walk down fighters with his jab, left.

Of course, I was just saying that Winky wasn't totally dominated in the fight.
